Good thing you mentioned it now, it will give us just enough time for the Holidays.
Thanks for the tip Jason! I'll try to make some unique pages. I will have to make a page increase request first though! :D

Just an FYI -- to help the inhouse staff out -- remember to also look on site:mahalo.com gift card as you are making your page requests. This will help everyone out. Also, it is a great place to grab relateds from. I know that tip is passed around a lot, but it REALLY works well with these pages These are great pages to promote other mahalo pages on, so check for similar pages. You can do some great internal links in the guide note, and fill the relateds section too. I have been putting all the terms related to the gift card first......like a bunch of book related pages for Barnes and Noble gift card, and then moving on to putting other gift card pages after that. I try to stick to similar gift card pages too, rather than putting a bunch of retail stores and restaurant stores under relateds. That is a preference thing, but it makes the page cleaner to me. Thoughts?
Also, most the pages in the system are being listed under Gift Card, as it usually has a much higher search volume than Gift Cards on the higher traffic pages. To rank under both though, I have been creating a section under fast facts for About (name of store) Gift Cards. This, as Rob Brown has pointed out, gives us an h2 tag in the guide note to help rank under both the singular gift card for the title and gift cards as well. Hope that helps you guys. Can't wait to see these fly in traffic in the coming weeks.

Hint: if you have a coupon page that you are making anything on, a gift card page probably would make something too!
So... check your existing pages and then if you missed out on a great coupon page you wanted... try for the gift card page.

High-paying Gift Card pages.

If you were to search Google for ' site:giftcards.com ' you will see all the pages indexed in Google from the site giftcards.com. This will give you a LOT of ideas of which pages to build.

Wow! I never thought about Gift card pages! The closest thing I ever made was iTunes Coupons, weird how I didn't think about making a page for the gift cards! :P Good thing you mentioned it now, it will give us just enough time for the Holidays.
Thanks for the tip Jason! I'll try to make some unique pages. I will have to make a page increase request first though! :D

yea i was checking them yesterday, craigslist and ebay are off the charts... you guys should not stick to just the 1 keyword phrases but branch out to the long tailed pages as well because sometimes doing so can be much better and much easier when ranking in the search engines.. even things with 4 or 5 keywords in them... Jason I would appreciate a increase if you dont mind. I am probably a great assett to getting the pages ranked for us as I have been doing SEO for over 7 years now.

Hi guys. These pages will be fun to create a promotion campaign for -- we will need to so we can work on getting them all ranked well, as from what I am seeing, there is a lot of competition, though some that are in the system are already ranking well in google. It depends on the popularity. Just an FYI -- to help the inhouse staff out -- remember to also look on site:mahalo.com gift card as you are making your page requests. This will help everyone out. Mahalo receives a significant amount of traffic from Google.
Google sees plurals as related synonyms but not as the same term. So, "gift card" and "gift cards" can be different things to Google but would have identical content here on Mahalo.
I think it's important for us all to get on the same page for this plural issue.
If these pages are all named "Company Name Gift Card" then Mahalo will have an easier time gaining and maintaining authority. This means that our Gift Card pages will rank higher, receive more traffic and hopefully more revenue from our group mentality on this.
I think that covering Gift Cards (plural) can be done on the page in the content itself. Note the page that I created about Lowes Gift Card. I've used Lowes Gift Card as the title and referenced Lowes Gift Cards many times in the copy that I wrote. This should balance the plurals and hopefully even catch a few more Google searching.
Above all else, I think that when someone would like to give a gift card as a gift, they're often searching for a singular card and not multiple cards. This is reflected in search volumes, on various other sites that feature gift cards, etc, etc.

Allison's point to check is a good one, but remember that sometimes there are pages on Mahalo that haven't indexed in Google yet and won't show up in a site search-- so make sure to check on Mahalo as well.

Here's a list of staff members:
Mahalo Staff Members
There are a ton of Gift Card pages left. They're similar to coupons. They're easy and fun to write and there are a ton of possibilities. I think that some of the highest earning Gift Card pages will be the smaller, lesser known clothing stores and restaurants. There is _a lot_ of competition in Google for the big name stores like Best Buy, Walmart, Target, etc.
Mahalo moves wicked fast... but don't let it get 'ya down... there are a ton of ways to make money here and that includes a bunch of different Gift Card pages if you want to build them!
Here's my suggestion: consult one of the restaurant review websites such as Zagats. Look up the highest rated (busiest, trendiest) places in NYC. Almost every restaurant offers gift cards and cards to these places are popular gifts over the holidays.

Want to mention a couple of things here...
First... that staff label is misleading. Several who say "mahalo staff member" in their profiles are not. They were either previous remote workers who gave it up to be like the rest of us or power users who needed more privileges to serve the community better by taking on staff responsibilities... sometimes without compensation, i think... so don't think they are staff just because it says so. =)
Second... actual staff does not keep any of the M$ they earn on pages at all.
Third... ok, so it's more than a couple =D
Third... I'm thinking that some members put their heads together and started doing this, Jason noticed, thought it was a great idea, and opened it up for the rest of us... he didn't have to do that... so, thank you Jason! =)
Now... that being said. I am absolutely sure that not all the best have been taken yet. There is no way that is possible.
You just have to think. So think about the places you shop. Where have you seen gift cards mentioned or where would you like to receive one for? What are the local businesses in your mall or just in your town that someone would like a gift card for?
Some great coupon pages are for local places that many people would not even know about.
So put your thinking caps on and start requesting some pages! =)
And a barnraising for this would be GREAT! hint, hint...

Local places can do really well. Two of my best theme parks this summer were local New Hampshire attractions. Its much easier to rank well in a local niche, as there's not as much competition.

I would think it will get speedier once Monday rolls around since it is the weekend....not that we aren't all important. Also, there are some tweaky issues with doubling up tasks this weekend too I believe, that are being ironed out. Like I mentioned above -- we should all check on duplicates/spellings too so it will be easier and quicker for the in house staff to approve them.

Gift Cards should really be profitable, I would think. We need to get as many done as possible now before the demand really kicks in at the end of next month. I think a couple of barnraisings would be great! Hint: if you have a coupon page that you are making anything on, a gift card page probably would make something too!
So... check your existing pages and then if you missed out on a great coupon page you wanted... try for the gift card page.
