Have you ever asked a question from your Mahalo Topic Page?

Some have mentioned that they have unrelated questions pop up in the "Mahalo Answers" application for their Mahalo Pages. In most cases this is because Mahalo Answers has not yet had questions about the topic yet, so the search is forced to find something close. You can solve the issue by asking questions about your topic.

Did you know, when you ask a question from your Mahalo Topic Page, when it appears on Mahalo Answers it will add a link to your page? This could help you get some extra clicks.

Go ahead and give it a shot. After you ask a question from your page, link to that question as your answer here for this question. Most interesting question will get the tip :D

I posted a question from my Danica Patrick page.
I am still getting used to the available tools, but I think the page is starting to come together. Though I'm always interested in feedback!

In particular, I am wondering how much is too much for product sections (amazon, google products etc.)?

And also, it seems like the order of sections changes occasionally without me doing anything. Is there an automated system for choosing the layout?
Does that mean I need to "pin" all the sections I want to stay in a particular order?

And finally, I wanted to say I really like the new automated "News" sections.
They are really useful for virtually all pages on Mahalo.

Like the page brian. From what I've heard about keeping sections from moving. Pin, pin and pin. Pin everything down. I didn't realize that you had to pin not just the section, but also what's inside the section.

Yeah, I'm starting to see that (especially with photos)
I have a page on Indiana and the automated photos kept coming up with "Indiana Jones". Then I figured out you can type "Indiana -Jones" as the query and it fixed the problem for the most part. But I think that pinning at least the top row of pictures is a good idea.

Product sections, use at your own desire, personally I typically like 1 product section instead of all the individual ones. I find Amazon has the best results too.

As for the order, if you don't pin things down Mahalo will rearrange them based on how users click around. It's kinda cool actually especially for the thousand pages that have no managers.. if you users click on the "wikipedia" link the most in your links section, it will get sifted to the top as the most popular link.

Hi Jeff,
I think that makes sense for pages that aren't being updated by the manager much.

But I spent some time setting up layouts I felt were best and they would disappear on me. Also I think at that point, the clicks that were generating the auto-order were my own from playing with the tools available.

How about having a button to "Lock Layout" (or "disable auto-layout") for the whole page?
I think in cases where the manager is spending time on it, their layout is probably going to be better than the auto-layout.

That's pretty cool. Really elegant trick. I just want to be able to customize the answers search like I can with everything else.

Yes, it's annoying that we can't customise the search term for that.

Especially when you have a page like The Wire and wires get mentioned in all kinds of contexts! :)

Thanks for the tip Jeff.

I've just asked one question that I would love to know the answer to...

Is Star Trek cool now?

http://www.mahalo.com/answers/tv/is-star-trek-cool-now

People, please let us know if Star Trek is seen as cool or dorky nowadays!

I may ask more questions from other pages later.

Thanks for the tip... didn't know that.... while we are talking about those questions... how can I get questions off that have nothing to do with the topic of the page... for instance... I have the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.... and virtually all of the questions are about the Royal Navy.... ????

heh, for now this is the solution :) If there have been no questions asked about your topic the system will search out something else. So to populate the feature you'll need to ask questions from your page.
