@phillipy I have no blog and I don't use Twitter socially, so I have done nothing with those. I manage 10 pages and have had very little traffic, as far as what's shown in the profile stats. However I made a few of these pages and I did so because I wanted to learn how to make a page, not to make money at this time.
I have been searching Twitter and retrieving questions relevant to the subject of my managed pages, inlinking the page names within the question hoping to possible generate a view or two. So far this tactic has not been successful. I have only seen a .06 cent increase in one of my money earned totals. This is to be expected as I manage very low-traffic pages.
I am very new to this whole concept and while quite unprofitable I am having a great time doing it and learning as I go. I am still working on completing these pages as time allows.
Answering this question is another way I'm promoting my pages.

I've noticed the Views counter can take to about a week to update...I know getting a more realtime system will be essential in the future.

The "earned" portion appears to update more frequently, which is why it appears your screener make no sense :)

I have a couple of cities and a state and no one visits them either, apparently.

Yes, the stats are strange. Sometimes the view doesn't update for days, so with pages that I haven't had long, I never know what the real picture is.

I try to wait at least a week before drawing any conclusions!

I have added the page widgets to my blog and that has helped create additional traffic to my Mahalo pages.

Could you elaborate on that? e.g. How much traffic do you think you got?

Thanks for the answer, but we do really expect more than one line for a M$3 question! :)

I went from 50 hits in 2 hours to 50 hits in 15 minutes, for a newbie to Mahalo that is a great improvement!

I joined Mahalo on June 19, 2009 and I have had 5,342 widget views so I am very pleased.

Adding the Mahalo widget to your blog is a terrific way to garner traffic. I definitely suggest sending it to some of your friends as well who may be interested.

I haven't used any of the ideas mentioned in the link provided, mostly because not a lot of it applies to me! I don't have a blog and I don't have any questions about my subjects. I don't use twitter. I don't have any memberships that will let me have a widget. Where else do I have to turn!
About all I've done is wrote a note on facebook with a few of my links and said "hey, can you guys check these out and tell me what you think?" I have no idea whether it got me page views or not, but I'm hoping it did.

Oh well, wait and see, I guess! Sorry I don't really have any examples for you :)

Posting your page on Facebook is a great way to start. I suggest checking out social bookmarking sites such as Digg, StumpleUpon and Reddit. It's quick to sign up, a great community join and a terrific place to promote your work (remember don't post only Mahalo links).

I do use digg, and I considered it, but what exactly do you suggest? Just submitting these pages? Or linking to them via profile? Using them as links in related stories?
I'm just not sure of the effectiveness. I hardly doubt that any of them would make it to front page. Profile might get a few clicks here and there, I'd think linking in related stories would be the most effective... Is this what you suggest, or another method?

Also with Digg and StumbleUpon would it be considered abuse to submit your own pages?

What I think would be great is if we all submitted other people's great Mahalo pages, as long as we genuinely found them valuable.

That would be a great way to leverage the fact that we have a real community here.

I think StumbleUpon is more appropriate than Digg which I thought was more about newsy things.

I added a page to my website with links to my mahalo pages. But I only did this last night, and besides that, not many people check out my website. So I'm not getting my hopes up. I do leave a link to one of my pages every day at Twitter and Facebook. Usually it is a link to the page on my book, "Surviving the Fog," And now and then, I sneakily sneak a plug for my book, "Surviving the Fog," into one of my answers to a mahalo.com question.

Hopefully one of these days we'll get some stats to show where the visitors to our pages come from.

I've tweeted about some of my pages occasionally, but I can't really tell if it has any effect.

One thing I do know from bit.ly is that a few other people must have posted links to some of my pages like iPhone 3GS.

Tried to bring my pages up in discussions on relevant facebook groups and posted them on my wall, with only minimal success. Although at this stage I'm not sure what "success" really is. I only have 5 pages but they are all making money and when I look at others lists some of their pages dont make any return...

I'm fond of the work I've done in presenting the James Burke documentary series The Day The Universe Changed

So I submitted it as link to the Documentary group on Reddit.com, seems to have converted into about 300 views.

Also a good idea is to Import Twitter Questions about your Topic Page, be sure to inlink the question to your page, then answer the question so the asker gets directed to your page... Basically become an expert on your topic.

Oh, and the Widget works good too.

@jeffhoard.... can you give us some numbers about the results you've had from answering Twitter questions and the widget?

Interesting suggestion about reddit. I never even knew it had groups like that.

@jeffhoard... Wow. You have a page that easily allows people to view all the clips that make up the whole episode, and know what's in them. Great resource for any one that cares about that show!

Question... what are the norms about submitting ones own pages to sites like reddit, digg etc?

Hey @philipy I can't poinpoint the exact amount of clicks I get from Twitter questions importing, but you have to expect the more times you link to your page the more clicks you'll eventually get. I've been adding widgets when I blog about a topic we have on Mahalo, not necessarily for the pages I own.

As for submitting your mahalo page to Digg and Reddit and such, those communities can be hard to crack but if you have a page that you believe is unique and will be attractive to the large social crowds.. give it a shot. Just don't spam these sites by submitting 20 straight Mahalo pages in a row, be smart.

I'm new at this, so I'm in the baby steps stage. I have listed my pages on delicious. I'm embedding the link for my page and others in my Answers. I have joined related forums and responded to some tweets.

No results yet, but I've only been at this a week. Focusing more on making sure my pages are in good shape and making sure all the links have good landing pages.

mdwife has 5k worth of views, but I can't see how this has helped. Her point count is low and earnings don't reflect a reward for the views. I understood from listening from Mahalo that Widgets were going to be strongly rewarded.
source(s):
How do the widgets work?
They don't show real time view counts.
They don't seem to be generating points

Explain the process and I'll tip you.

@davepamn.... Well according to her currents stats, her Joe Guidice page has had nearly 10k views and made over M$5, in about a week. That would make it one of the best performing pages around!

Factors that may be at play here...

- It's a niche topic, not covered by many sites. Her page is the #1 search result on Google for Joe Guidice.

- It seems to be something in the news. I don't know who the guy is but it looks like he appeared on a TV show recently and maybe made controversial remarks.

- Her blog is very much about that TV show, it's well established, and maybe has plenty of readers.

10k view has moved mdwife into the number #3 position. I'm amazing at her following on her blog.
