Mahalo Recipe Hunt Part 2: Ethnic Recipes!

First, a friendly reminder that Mahalo Recipe Hunt Part 1 is still going!

For Part 2 I have created a page for Ethnic Recipes

So as with the first hunt, please search for recipe pages ON MAHALO.COM not already listed on the Ethnic Recipes page and put links to those recipes in your answer.

If your not sure how that works, check the Wiki Text on Mahalo section of the How to Build a Mahalo Page

For this hunt, please list "Ethnic Recipes" only, as in recipes related to a particular country.

If a you find recipes for a country not listed on my page, please list that country in your answer and I will add it.

Search Tips:
Recipes with proper category listings can be found here

You can also use Google to search for recipes here

And as @ssmacd pointed out, please add the "International Cuisine" category to any pages that you encounter which are not properly indexed already - or let the page manager know via dm or on the page's message board.

Good Hunting!

Tip for best answer: M$4.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Much appreciated!

Hi again,

One issue is that some of these are not really recipes, they are just descriptions of that food item.

The recipes are usually found in the How to pages.

But I am still working out the best format and will probably add the non-recipes items to a resources section of each topic.
So having a list of food descriptions is still helpful.

Thanks again.

Thanks, loved doing it, just ran out of time. Will check back later to see if you need more help.

Hi, yes I realized that but most of them had recipes also listed. So you just want one recipe. Okay. Sorry about that.

Yes probably better to separate. It will be a trick trying to find them on Mahalo. And will take a lot of research.

Great!

Not sure what is best (opinions welcome), but I think I want to separate pages that have a recipes on them directly from those that just link to recipes.

What do you think?

Your probably right. But the list you have provided will be a good starting point.
Thanks again.

1. Africa:
http://www.ethnicrecipes.org/index.php?search=&category=african
African Lamb Curry

This is an unusual, flavorful buffet dish ? very elegant with a rice ring. Serve with chutney, chopped hardboiled eggs and coconut.

2 pounds lean lamb, cubed
4 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 1/2 tablespoons curry powder
1 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 to 5 ounces dried apples, chopped
2 to 3 cups beef stock
1 teaspoon freshly-grated lemon rind
Salt, to taste
Freshly-ground pepper, to taste
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1/2 cup seedless raisins, plumped
in Madeira wine to cover
1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut

Brown meat in butter in a skillet; sprinkle with flour, thyme, ginger and curry. Stir well and add onion, garlic and apples. Cook and stir for 3 minutes. Gradually add 2 cups of the stock; cook and stir until slightly thickened and smooth. Add lemon rind, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer for 1 hour, adding more stock if needed, until meat is tender.

Stir in walnuts, raisins, soaking liquid and coconut. Simmer for 30 minutes to heat thoroughly.

Hi,
Thanks for the recipe, but what I'm actually after is links to recipe pages currently on mahalo.com that I can add to my Ethnic Recipes page.

Perhaps you can create a page for African Lamb Curry and then send me a link!

One other note,
One of the links to my Ethnic Recipes page is misspelled in the question.
I have requested it to be corrected.

No problem,
If you feel like looking for some of the recipe pages you still have time to edit our answer and add them. Or you can add them in the comments section.

Sorry, this isn't what I am looking for.

I am looking for recipe page that are already on Mahalo.com
to add to my Ethnic Recipes page. If you go there and click any of the links they will take you to recipe pages on the site.

I simply want help finding more recipes to add to the page.

I would like to add other countries, but only if there are recipe pages available on mahalo.com for them.

Thanks,
But what I am hoping to find is recipe pages on Mahalo.com
For instance, in my Chinese food section I have a link to the mahalo page How to make Spring Rolls

But there aren't many links on my Ethnic Recipes page yet, so I am hoping that Mahalo users can search for more of them.
