I'm choosing #1 because it is a great question. It allows room for opinion, but it also allows room for facts. It seems like there is a good discussion that could go on there. The rest of them are a little bit cut and dry. They just require some expertise in a certain area. #1 is an issue that affects everyone in this country, and it is an important issue.

To me, the opportunity for interesting discussion makes for the best question. However, the best discussions are ones where there is an opportunity for facts to be brought in. That feels a lot more substantial to me.

• And we have the first tie in the short history of the "Question of the Day"! 1 and 3 tied with 3 votes each!!! @imacatholic2 and @thelastscionspeaks are going to split the prize and get M$5 each. Thanks everyone!!

I am refusing to answer because I think it would show poor form and the subject of personal bias could be raised. Thanks for allowing my question to be part of the of the "question of the day" and I am sure no matter what is chosen that all the questions were good ones.

Erlog: Thank you for the compliment and excuse my attachment to your answer. I just wanted to make a statement without answering directly. Oh! and you might be interested to know that the list of states went up to 13 now. Minnesota just put forth a resolution too.

Have fun and I can't wait to see the outcome.

Definitely an interesting question, which is why I chose it for today's contest. What's even more interesting is how the situation you described is going to eventually play out. How many other states do you think will join in?

It's hard to tell really. It started out as a few states and has snowballed. I think with the coming monetary problems and possible food shortages I would say at least 35 though I would like to see every state sign such a resolution. I believe we are already at 23 states that have such resolutions in progress or adopted. I am a large supporter of constitutional and states rights. I will get of my soap box and thanks for your comment.

Tough choice, but I'm going to vote for question 3. It's great because not only does it inspire a great Mahalo feature suggestion, but I also love its philanthropic tone.

Since "Helping Others" is one of the key ideas behind Mahalo Answers, I think that this is a great idea and one that could really become a good motivator for people.

My shortlist would be #2 and #4, for similar reasons. They are both questions of great importance to the person asking, yet something we can all relate to. Even if we haven't eloped, or have kids of our own, we can understand and care about the situation. [ #empathyday Jason. :) ]

They also elicited some fine answers.

This time I'll pick #2 as the QOTD.

Why?

a) It's a great story
b) @bbrookin's answer is a wonderful and helpful story too
c) They just got married! Give them a M$10 wedding gift from all of us!

#3

It would be a great feature to implement for those who are feeling especially charitable.

Number 3. A great idea, yes. But also a great idea that could generate a lot of positive attention.

Number 1, as there's the opportunity to inform and educate people about a topic that may not be aware of.

I like #1. It requires some knowledge, research and background. It also might not be something others are aware of, and is likely to stimulate good discussion.
