Proposal 1: New rules, its ok but I can say it that this contest will be lost it's huge popularity. I will propose you that please make another contest where we can make votes. Because it is community, if here is not role of our, it will be filled with bore. I know many members who are like this contest most.So they will be sad.
Proposal 2: I would say to change this rule again according that please nominate top 7 or a several number YOU and we will vote them. But you have another right that everyday you will vote and your vote will be counted as golden vote and it will worth 3 general votes.
These are just my personal opinion.
Sorry because of writing here out of main topic.

I think it's wonderful Mahalo is trying to reward those who answer well as I agree even being so new I see a lot of spam answers. I've never nominated anyone because honestly, though I've seen plenty of awesome answers I voted "helpful" to I haven't seen a whole lot that just, stuck in my head and made me go, "Wow, that really helped whoever asked that question, and probably some people that just happened to read it."
That to me is what deserves to be nominated for answer of the day. If participation is what is making the contest disappear though, I think I'll lower my standards to just, "really awesome answer" and try to find one a day to nominate. :)
I also agree having one of the staff pick a few until participation improves may help participation. Which sounds sort of odd, but if more people see "I could be nominated" rather than "I'm never nominated" more people are likely to visit the question and vote. They may actually care, rather than thinking, "Meh, it's the same people everyday anyway." Once those people see a wider range of people being nominated they're also more likely to nominate as the contest becomes popular again.
I am just agreeing all over today, but I also agree the question should be one the front page, or is it possible to somehow "stickie" in forum speak a question to the top of ever tab? That would also work. The answer of the day question gets buried rather fast each day. I doubt many users even see it and have just forgotten about it.
Though, I also noticed the number of questions alone seems to have dwindled the last few days, so maybe it's just a slow time for Mahalo answers.

In my humble opinion, the lack of interest for the AotD started with the restructuring of Mahalo related questions to the totally obscure and highly un-used "Mahalo Answers Community ".
I don't think many actually uses those categories, especially newbies don't.
With that, the AotD has been confined to the 'happy few' that know of its existence. Newbies have no real chance of finding it, and even I, a former participant forget about it all the time.
I understand that Mahalo staff wanted to avoid the cluttering of the main answers page, but instead of removing the few Mahalo related questions, it would have been WAY more effective to create a separate tab for Conundrum questions.
There are many times more Conundrum questions, which actually DO clutter the front-page, in contrast to the very few (less than 5 a day) Mahalo internal questions, that are actually interesting to all.
Please bring back the Mahalo related questions to the front page, and move the conundrums to their own tab. Please?

New Answer of the Day Contest for October 21st
Due to lack of interest in the contest the number of prizes has been lowered from 3 winners to 1. If interest increases back to the average of 10 participants we'll go back to the old format. If interest continues to fall the contest will be put on hold. Please vote interesting to keep this alive!
Welcome to the Answer of the Day Contest for October 21st, 2009. Congrats to @gno for being rewarded today's answer of the day

Sorry you feel this way Safi, we're doing our best to keep the contest going and the recent modification is based on the lack of participation from the community. We used to average about 10 participants a day and recently that number has dwindled to about 4, with few voters, it's been difficult to justify three prizes.
It's either we make changes to the contest or simply shelve it, considering this thread is getting voted down that appears to be the popular opinion.
We did our best to get contest internally to get the contest back on the front page, but without support from the participants the contest will simply go away.

It seems the popularity of the contest dwindled with the overall answer quality. And it may be the same things have caused it. The more veteran folks have moved on to other areas of Mahalo to concentrate their efforts. Leaving the same few dedicated folks like @robbrown, @phillipy and @buddawiggi being nominated repeatedly, so newer folks give up on the idea. Not that they shouldn't be nominated, but it can be discouraging to see the same few names winning it all the time. And rather than putting more effort into their answers, people just focus on spamming out answers to get points, or try to get more money faster.

We've changed it back to community voting based on the negative feedback.

The solution to increased participation is to put the contest back on the front page and reward the nominators, plain and simple.
Trying to promote great answers from an obscure help section called Mahalo Answers Community is counter intuitive. Newcomers and new players in general would be interested if they could *readily see the contest* instead of going to a category off of the front page that primarily deals with problems within the community (difficulties with pages, seo of pages, general help q&a etc)
Having the AotD in that category is mis-categorizing the contest.

The AotD contest needs to be allowed back on the front page so members can find it. The old format of nominators and nominees winning the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes need to be brought back also. With the current format seems like few people can find the contest and there's no real motivation to win it anymore.

#I think @jeffhoard please make a new thread where we can say "Yes I agree with this new rule" or "No, I don't agree" so that you can count that community asking for what.
#I already have made a conversation with @lesliec about why I am not interest in new rule.
#If mahalo do not change this current rule, I would request to jeff and les that when you will make a answer best, please make a comment why your opinion saying it is the best. So that we can make better answer and better nomination in next time. But if you avoid to say why it selected the best then we will not inform that why my nomination is not the best.
#Of course, it is a good idea that again ATOD coming on the frontpage.
# Don't discourage to vote us helpful howevver there is no value of our voting. But please encourage to vote helpful, it will give a opportunity to test that my justify was how, when you will announce the winners. Helpful votes also seems that "I support that".
#Here is ATOD but why not ATOM (Answerer of the month)? Please note not answer of the month, I am saying for answerer of the month. Where active members will be rewarded who answered a some of QUALITY answers. There should be a good number of cool answers and also helpful answers to nominate in ATOM.
After all I will say every thing and movement has advantages and also disadvantages. So looking at future.
Thanks

I found mine for today. I adore @omicron 's response to Is it possible that viruses like H1N1, HIV and the Rhinovirus (common cold) are actually species superior to humans?
I love the question as well, but that's not the contest. :)
The answer is logical and complete and the second thought about plants being superior to humans just made my day.

Note: Please do use a space before the "@" mark from your writing.
Here is a example.use a space before @ mark thenput "@" then "safiqulislam"(member's name) its ok now.
