I was going to nominate @stanar for
recording cable on bluray player because of these reasons:
Very informative, including a nice picture (homemade?), and original text without going the easy way of copy-pasting a how-to page from the internet. He also asks for the correct extra information to provide even better aid. Well done!
But then I stumbled upon this one:
average number of spins for a single roulette wheel and the answer by @gno on it.
Well researched, multiple sources, and his own interpretation of the found results. A detailed and precise answer to the question.
So, I nominate @gno for the Answer of the Day.
(Oh, does gno know 'gno' stands for 'Girls Night Out' ?)

Reasons:
1. picture is here
2. Source is cited (in text and as a source, beautiful, shows us were the content is coming from)
3. Answer is interesting for general culture.
I must also point out that usually most well developed answers are found on high tip giving questions, while this one is for the cheapest tip available.

In addition to the reasons mentioned by @mithrandir, the steps were very clear. I believe someone who has never set up a TV before could follow the step by step. It takes a lot of effort to step back and make such clear directions when explaining something you are very familiar with.

"I'm more of a dog fan but it depends on you really. Cats are quite independent and look for attention when they want it, dogs tend to be loving and loyal at all times. Cats are not as much work since they will easily train to a litter box and dogs well they can be a bit more work when it comes to clean up. Do the research, weigh the pros and cons, and determine which is a better fit for your lifestyle, then you'll have your answer."
That helped me a lot. He told me what I needed to know about the difference of cats and dogs. And it is true. Which ever pet fits your lifestyle. That really got me thinking.

What I don't like about the QOD is that most questions and their answers scroll off to twitter and the questionmaniacs so that they get hardly any views, and therefor the nominations to QOD are not a good sampling. Also, people are voting for opinions that they like more often than technically good answers. But I'm glad this one at least will be read a bit more, although it's not nearly as good as my recent answer about the origin of the state name Oregon.

Nothing is really that technical or official about the contest Albanian, we just like seeing Mahaloians giving props to each and fishing out the best answers found on the site. We like having good answers highlighted.

I think gno's answer, along with the links to the videos, to the question concerning how fair and balanced FOX News reporting is was the best answer. He covered many different areas and gave good examples as well as support for his answer. samid also had some good answers. Mahalo Answers

The question I chose best answer on was "Is a cat or dog a better pet." The person answered with an answer that said : "I'm more of a dog fan but it depends on you really. Cats are quite independent and look for attention when they want it, dogs tend to be loving and loyal at all times. Cats are not as much work since they will easily train to a litter box and dogs well they can be a bit more work when it comes to clean up. yes, I made that diagram myself with MS Visio just for that question. Had the asker provided the make/model, I could have answered it better with more details. better luck next time (to myself). :-)
Hint to others: Stanar's answer is still up for nomination (and will very likely get you my vote!)
