Welcome to the Answer of the Day Contest for September 18th, 2009. There have been some changes made to the contest recently, you can find out all about the changes here on the Mahalo blog.

~How To Play~
1. Post below as your answer, a permalink to the best answer you can find on Mahalo from within the last 5 days. The answer can be from any Mahaloian, at any belt level, including staff. Nominators need only provide a paragraph or less to introduce their nomination, please no images or video.

~How to Win~
If your nomination receives the most "helpful votes" you win the M$4 prize + team tips. Mahalo will also send M$4 to the author of the "Answer of the Day"

Thanks. It's an issue that I'm passionate about so when I saw the question I pretty much pounced on it and turned it into an essay. I'm glad people liked it and weren't put off by the sea of words as it turned out to be longer than I had intended.

What were some of the greatest empires of the 16th century?

What was the copper scroll? Was the scroll composed of copper plates with rings?

I found Pixelsilva answer interesting and well researched out. We should call pixelsilva, "The Professor". The information about the Copper Scroll was great.
