I love the Weekend Edition of Answer of the Day and this weekend I'm happy to invite my nomination @ewpldf to the party. No jacket required.

His answer to this question is creative and well developed, interesting and well sourced.

"Fantasy Dinner Party time...who would you pick for the perfect dinner party?

The Official Invitation List

*This answer is amongst many terrific answers to such an interesting question but stands out in every way making it a perfect nomination for Answer of the Day.

I think @bunnyphuphu's answer to my "Why was it called Pork Chop Hill?" question deserves recognition.

bunnyphuphu's answer

Short, informative and to the point, and added a human and emotional twist to it. Nomination dedicated to her father.

I nominate @gno for her well reasoned and well sourced answer to this question:
Is it ever okay to have a beer or two at lunch on a work day?

I appreciated the mix of personal opinion and logic and how she provided an alternate point of view found in several source links.

I nominate the answer from @Geothinkah to the question:

Do you have any famous or at least well known ancestors? I have one sorta because the book/movie Cold Mountain is based on him?

It gives a concise answer, added information about genealogy ( hasn't the internet helped that hobby take off!? ) and some extra information about their blog :) and an image ! very nice

A great Mahalo answer

( not sure how to link the answer better, hope this is right )

@omicron

Without a European Missile shield, what is preventing Russian from invading in Poland and Czechoslovakia and Western Europe?

omicron is a free thinker. I have found his analysis convincing and thought provoking. omicron has answered a number of my military questions with insight.

omicron has been answering questions, none stop, about submarine warfare, eastern shield, and Western Europe with knowledge. I think the omicron level of expertise in the answers should deserve him an "Answer of the Day" award

@lindalstcyr has blown me away with her answer to @jeffhoard's latest history thread!

Who are the most famous figures from the 17th Century?

This is a great mixture of history, criminology, with just a dash of gore for the upcoming holiday!

It's also a stark reminder that throughout history, people in privileged places were getting away with murder!
