In regards to the "Points issue" we cache quite a bit of the counts that are displayed on Mahalo Answers along with most of the data you see. We do this for several reason, but the most important is that it makes the site faster. Calculating those counts and such is much easier to server from memory than out of a database.
We're doing a lot to make this stuff appear to to be instant. From upgrading hardware to optimizing code to moving to different software to store data.
The "hanging issue" is something different and we're aware of it and fixing it.
If you would like to know more about how Mahalo houses data please feel free to ask me, that's sort of what I do here.

But I like your theory. I'm in line for...not much at all at this point, since I've been gone for the better part of 3 days and will be gone again for the better part of the week!

If your theory is correct, it's definitely not me, because I don't work for Mahalo Answers, so it might be someone there. I'M NOT ACCUSING MAHALO ANSWERS of doing this.
Darcy Logan is the Michael Jordan of Mahalo Answers. Dan Patrick on Sportscenter that said, "You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him." This holds true with Darcy, you can't stop her, you can only hope to contain her. I know that I'm not against you being the best on here, or the highest points, but nobody can stop you.
Keep at it, Darcy!
Hope you get that Wii! Someday you might be holding up big and better signs like, "I will answer for Tesla," or something more than just a Wii :-)

Jason, with his vast intelligence, added the tip for ALL questions (and now announced that the tip will increase to M$1) in an attempt to BRIBE all those on the service to return to his side and leave the queen!! His next step is to carefully place Mahalo employee's in strategic locations throughout the top 100 members, that way they are all ready to strike when the time is right. One day he will say the word and BAM suddenly you won't even be in the top 10 and all those that support you will vanish! Now I must hide before they find me and punish me for talking... *runs*

If you remember Mel Brooks' History of the World - there's a scene where Brooks as the lecherous King Louis XVI is playing chess with live pieces across a king-sized board (but of-course)...
And the kick is when he says - "All to Queen", whereby all the pawns, rooks, bishops, n what-have-u, summarily proceed to the queen for a u-know-what!
I think if u keep this up, that's soon going to be the situation u find yourself in :)

For you see, I was just a simple answerer. I made no waves, I didn't aim for fame, but rather tended carefully to those questions that I felt I could be of service to. Unfortunately, I became a member of those damaged by the wide-ranging attack on your crown. Countless times recently, I, too, have been hung-up. I see that I cannot hope to be a mere spectator in this, but rather must actively fight against this injustice.
For this, I pledge myself to your cause.
For real, though, I've noticed that if I reload the page, the information I entered is still in the boxes, and when I click submit again, it goes quickly. Answered Question

The Evil Mahalo Plot to take away my crown... What should I do to stop this coup d'etat?
I don't know if you have been experiencing "hangs" when hitting submit. I have for some time. No big deal since reloading fixes it. Then today I noticed that I don't get POINTS when I answer those questions. Apparently, this is some evil plot and the "hanging" is some program to block points from being awarded. I've noticed this at least three times in the past few hours. Who knows how many times I've missed!!
Obviously, this is an evil plot against me. I don't want to accuse anyone, but my guess would be two men who have been rapidly closing in on my lead...
How deep do you think this conspiracy goes? All the way to the top? Notice who else has suddenly made his way back into the top 3...
Perhaps this new "M$1 on every question" is part of that larger conspiracy to ensure I get enough money for a Wii which would likely distract me from achieving a black belt....
Any advice?
(Note: the conspiracy is just theory and this question is strictly for fun and games... no haters please!)

• There were some really great, amusing answers, but for the "best" answer I thought it only fair to choose the one that resolved the answer...logically.
Although, it's odd that once I called attention to the conspiracy it stopped occurring. More proof I guess!

Nope, I've been experiencing the same thing, too, for several days. I've asked probably 20 questions where the hang time has been long enough to result in me getting 2 points instead of 4, or none at all. But I like your theory. I'm in line for...not much at all at this point, since I've been gone for the better part of 3 days and will be gone again for the better part of the week!

Do you really care about that Wii or is it really a plot to advertise Wii? You've probably sold enough Wii for Nintendo to buy sponsor you, and get you one by now.
Report

Yeah, maybe you should contact Nintendo. You could possibly a future character in one of the games. Rescue Darcy Logan! I'm just cracking up over how funny you are with that sign. I wouldn't doubt that someone at Nintendo has their eyes on you, and they are forever grateful for your plug on Mahalo Answers. You know that top celebrity athletes get paid big bucks to market shoes with brand logos. If you really are all that at answering questions, you should get an agent who can represent you to Nintendo. Who knows, you might be sleeping on a huge deal with the video game company?

p.s. If your computer is downloading large updates or software in the background from one or more sources and that is interfering with your Mahalo answering, if opening up the download/ your internet security software page doesn't help, and clicking on the update button does not resume a stuck download, or closing all unnecessary windows,
or opening new windows on top of it doesn't kick start it, and everything stays frozen, then a reboot may not be enough, you may need to wait and just let it finish downloading before using anything else and do something else during the six hour or whatever download, because if you just start again the long download also starts over and the problem does not go away. Sometimes you can get away with working at the same time but uploading like an answer can sometimes be too much no matter which browser you are using - for slower dialup systems that is.
