Single brackets for inlinks?

I thought double brackets were being used to mark inlinks. Now, when I use single brackets as embedded parentheses in an answer, it comes out as an inlink, sometimes with missing words.

Was there a problem with using double brackets? Maybe I'm being picky, but I use single brackets rather often, and nested parentheses can get needlessly confusing. Could {braces} be used for inlinks instead?

Just curious.

What page are you having trouble with? We use double brackets for inlinks. Would be more than happy to take a peek and help guide you in whatever way necessary!

The problem that triggered my question comes up in Mahalo Answers. Here are a couple of examples:

http://www.mahalo.com/answers/health/how-do-i-seek-a-doctor-without-medical-insurance-for-anxiety-problems-every-since-my-cousin-was-murdered-ive-had-major-anxiety

I wanted to put "your location" in single brackets, but when I did so it came out as an inlink for "location." The problem also showed up here:

http://www.mahalo.com/answers/statistics/statistics-help

where I wanted single brackets instead of the inner parentheses.

I always use double bracelets myself and have never experienced any problems.
