Is it time Mahalo instituted a manual (human powered) filter for questions coming from Twitter to prevent spam?
Right now there are two many spam questions with grammar problems filling up Mahalo, the best way to fix it may to have a manual filter. Someone would have to spell check, categorize and approve every Twitter question. This could really improve the overall quality of the questions here.

Well currently there are always staff and regular Mahalo members monitoring the questions to make sure we don't get a lot of spam.
Many of the Twitter questions that we get are actually imported intentionally by Mahalo members.
Right now I think the situation is manageable, but if we do start getting flooded by Twitter spam, I could see the need for someone to filter the questions sent in by Twitter.

I agree very much so with you. You do see some interesting questions coming from twitter which are very interesting to answer and fun, but you also see some from twitter which are not actually questions so you cannot really answer them and they send real questions further down the list than them even when they are good questions.
How do you think they would be able to institute a filter for twitter questions?

We would really really appreciate it if you click the "Report" button every time you see abuse being done here, if you do that we will get to the spam quickly, if it's not reported then it may never get seen by the eyes of a moderator.
If you are concerned about grammar and spelling, again use the report button, it's no problem for us to quickly fix a spelling error.

We do not automatically pull in questions from Twitter. All questions are either selected by a human editor to be pulled in to Mahalo or they are directly sent to us when people tweet to @answers or @questions. As @jeffhoard mentions above, the best thing you can do is click "report" if you find a question inappropriate, or vote it "uninteresting" if you just don't think it is worth answering.

You do automatically pull in questions sent to @answers or @questions, correct?
I am not sure why this was marked as unhelpful.
What are we failing to address @darknessfalls?
Twitter questions are added to the sites in two different way. They are imported by users, or they come in via the @answers as you mentioned.
We encourage users who import the questions to make sure they are clean of grammar issues, if they are not as mentioned about you can "report" the question and we will have a look at it.
It would be very unresourceful for Mahalo if we had a human monitoring nothing Twitter questions 24/7. We do have moderators on the site and they do clean up and remove twitter questions they run into that are inappropriate. But with hundreds of questions coming in each day naturally we'll miss some, all we can ask is that you report what we overlook so that we can be alerted about it.

It was marked as unhelpful because it failed to address the questions at all, starting with a false statement "We do not automatically pull in questions from Twitter" that is generally misleading.
Yes, and I am sick and tired of seeing all of these questions about the same thing from different users. It is annoying. This sounds like a good idea. I am sure it will take a while to get on here though. I am sure the people who run Mahalo are very busy trying to fix bugs that are already in the system. http://i0006.photobucket.com/albums/0006/findstuff22/Best%20Images/Icons/thumbsup1.jpg

good idea! It would be unfortunate to have a fine system like this taken down by spam bots! good luck administrators. I bet you are aware of this and have it taken care of. :)
