Good idea.
I think that the staff has mentioned that this would be done eventually. I'm looking forward to this improvement too.
It doesn't really matter to me if the staff is in the stats and I think it's a real strength that the staff is so active in the community... but when there is a problem, it would be great to differentiate folks.
The all seem to use the WeeMe avatars... It might be sort of cool for them to have a special "Mahalo Staff" surfboard or something in the background so that they didn't stick out like swore thumb, but that you knew who they were when you needed them.

Like someone wearing a "staff" t-shirt at a concert, clearly labeled to indicate wear to go for help.
Or the Red Cross worn on the helmet of a wartime medic.
Especially to someone new who might have a pressing question that has been overlooked by the rest of us.

I agree with @buddawiggi regarding the whole 'staff' label.
What if they just gave their avatar's some staff t-shirts?
That way we'd feel like we were at a concert while logged on!

I love that right now the staff is integrated with the community, but they should get recognition for their status as staff members. It could be something like a belt tip color, or a text label that says Staff, or more specifically what their actual position is on the site.

How about a Mahalo Blue "Tip" on the left side of the belts for Mahalo staff members, so we can spot them in a crowd?
One of the greatest parts of Mahalo is that the staff right up to the big kahuna himself are active members of the site. But sometimes it would be nice to be able to tell when an answer is coming from a staff member and when it is not.
There have been a couple times where people have mistaken me for a staff member (probably because I tend to make a lot of Mahalo suggestions), so it would help with that to.
What do you think? Good idea, or is it better to blend in with the crowd?

I think it is a great idea. What better way to be helpful to the members than have the staff members clearly labeled. Like someone wearing a "staff" t-shirt at a concert, clearly labeled to indicate wear to go for help.
Or the Red Cross worn on the helmet of a wartime medic.
Especially to someone new who might have a pressing question that has been overlooked by the rest of us.

Yes I think there should definitely be a way to tell the difference between staff and regular members. This way, users will know who to contact and who is qualified to answer the really technical mahalo questions. I love that right now the staff is integrated with the community, but they should get recognition for their status as staff members. It could be something like a belt tip color, or a text label that says Staff, or more specifically what their actual position is on the site.

Yes, I thought about different tags for different levels of Mahalo Staff too, but it might get a bit complicated. Thanks for the answer.

Like a big M on the avatar's t-shirt or a Mahalo baseball cap.
Though the tip on the belt might be easier to manage (and non-Mahalo staff can't imitate)
For example...
Sometimes newbies don't realise that the person that answered in a discussion about something like the accuracy of the stats is the Mahalo CEO. They don't know is just somebody's two cents worth, and what is an informed answer, or official policy.
It's fun to compete! I know it motivated me to try hard to score a few extra M$'s on answers when @jasoncalacanis took top earning spot away!
