I think that it would be a good idea. Instead of being able to edit over an hour, you could have a little "comment" option directly on the question, just for the asker, so you could add on and correct the question, but not fundamentally change it.

It then becomes a question of adding the new data as a comment, and although I have done that a couple of times, I still feel one should be able to get back and add as one likes, even after a few hours.
I don't think this should be restricted to the better questions only... maybe a simple solution like increasing the allotted time upto say, 3 hours or so, would be helpful here.

I've also used the email a question functionality to time-delay posting a question. I just schedule the e-mail to send at a specified time.
No, I don't think that the time for either question or answer edits should be increased. Often, when I see a question that I want to answer I start work right away. If the question changes (even slightly) it changes my answer.
Question edits are slightly different. There are a couple of competitive folks around here who will answer a question and then update it throughout the hour with information that I can only suspect comes from the answers of others. I don't think that this is all that bad because in the end, the asker receives a more complete answer. However, I often wait an hour to answer questions where I suspect that this may happen.
The bottom line is that I think that folks should be encouraged to post their best the first time. With the exception of grammar, spelling and other small mistakes I like how the time limit enforces a short conclusion to the edit process.

Rather than being able to edit the question, this will be a way of helping members getting what they want and for the members to provide answers that are beneficial to them.
Could this also be done for the answering committee to? If we want to add something else to our comment, we could add extra information along with the information already provided after the hour?

Better Questions: Would it help to be able to add information after the first hour?
For example, when someone's question is not clear and they realize this after someone's has already answered they could add an addendum to the question. I know that you can comment on other people's questions, but then everyone coming to answer may not read the comments.

I don't know about questions, but I definitely think the answers should have more time... there have been so many times that I have either discussed the question (and/or answer) with a friend, or sometimes just remembered some info I'd like to add, only to know that my 60 minutes are up. It then becomes a question of adding the new data as a comment, and although I have done that a couple of times, I still feel one should be able to get back and add as one likes, even after a few hours.

I compose answers in Textedit / Notepad and then just copy-and-paste my questions and answers into Mahalo. I've also used the email a question functionality to time-delay posting a question. I just schedule the e-mail to send at a specified time.

Yahoo has this facility as well. I think that it would be of a great interest to the Mahalo members to be able to have this ability of having more information added after the hour. Rather than being able to edit the question, this will be a way of helping members getting what they want and for the members to provide answers that are beneficial to them.
