It sounds like a great idea, but this is sort of like a bulletin board. You can ask questions about the Mahalo Community within the Answers here. I am comfortable answering questions right inside here. As things improve, there probably be less questions about how to use the service, and more questions about everything else. I believe there will always be questions about the service though, and it's important that they stay within the Mahalo Answers Community, as not everyone would join a bulletin board. I believe it would be nice to have a separate set of questions about Mahalo Answers in the Mahalo Community section. This way, we keep people answering questions in Mahalo Answers.

I don't see what the point of a separate message board would be unless you wanted to keep a certain type of question off of Mahalo Answers.

After a few days I am getting tired of the questions that some people are asking just to ask questions and get the points. I am hoping that these questions will stop after a few weeks as people stop responding... Maybe things like this could be discussed on a separate message board?

We will have a Mahalo Answers bulletin board system in the New Year, and like many are mentioning it will not include points so you don't have to worry about using up your questions/answers quotas in here (or folks answering just to get points, etc).

Truthfully the point system is not going to ultimately decide the top belt levels--the quality of answers will. As I've mentioned it will take about two months of solid activity to get to Brown belt, and when you do get the points to reach brown belt your account will be reviewed to see if you gave good answers or if you were doing one word answers/had poor grammar and spelling, etc.

So, the point system is really one of two qualifiers.

I've been also thinking about putting a minimum number of "best answers" to reach purple and above. So, you can't just answers questions... you have to get a couple of *best* answers to advance. :-)

Also, at some point we may only allow Green or Purple and above answer the money questions. So, you'll start in the system and have to prove yourself in the non-money questions for a week before being able to do the money questions... how cool would that be!? :-)

That's all in the future... right now we're thrilled with the quality level over all. We're purposely going slow with this to a) build a community, b) work out the issues (i.e. suicide, drug, etc. questions), and c) remove the disruptors.

As a community we nee to have zero tolerance for anyone who is in the system other than to help folks. You guys have done an EXCELLENT job of hitting the report key on bad behavior, and we can really act quickly when you do.
