i can't stand the yes/no feature. it means i have to do another thing. i like automatic features like diggs. if i read through it and like it, then i can dig it. the answers should then rank in popularity of order automatically on the page, thus making it an automatic feature. if people see a better answer lower, then they will vote on that. i don't see the point of saying no because then people would say no to answers that are not theirs.
Then, what i would really love is that they take the popularity and make a Mahalo Press where we can set our preferences and read the stream, rss like or whatever.

I use the "Helpful Answer" function as a constellation prize when I didn't have the "best" answer. I figure I'm on the right track with the quality and level of my answer if folks hit the Yes button.
I've also noticed that the helpful answer buttons are handy when the question is somewhat controversial. The person asking the question my not necessarily agree with the community and that will be shown in the number of Yes' or No's that exist.
I check with IE (where I'm not logged in) vs. FF where I am logged in so that I can see the Helpful Answer buttons. It would be nice to show the yes and no numbers when logged in.

It is easy (though inconvenient) to log out and view your answer to see how the votes are progressing.
But, I agree with you, it would be a nice feature to display the current yes/no votes on your own answers, even when the yes/no buttons are not made available.

Why can't I see how many people find my answers helpful?
I think I've heard this question muttered around, so I thought I would go ahead and ask it. If we're lucky Jason will chime in for the M$.
I find it frustrating (well, not that frustrating, but noticeable) that I can't see if my answers are helpful or not.

Would it not be a good service if we knew when our answers were helpful or not, if 20 people voted that answer down, I would have no idea and would not correct my ways.
And I'll take this question to another level by asking would it be nice if the votes produced during this period of the questions life carried over into the Undecided Best Answer Percentage and counted as votes?

Most likely, this was just a programming oversight. Mahalo does not want people to "vote" on the helpfulness of their own answers, so they omit that control when you are viewing the page. It is easy (though inconvenient) to log out and view your answer to see how the votes are progressing.
But, I agree with you, it would be a nice feature to display the current yes/no votes on your own answers, even when the yes/no buttons are not made available.

I just have a copy of Chrome running if I want to see this, which I keep logged out. Not a real solution, but better than logging out constantly.
