This question has been up for a while, and yet it has fewer answers than "What is everything that you know about Niobium?"
The honest answer to that one is "I'm not sure there is even such a thing! Is it real, or from Star Trek?" :)
I'm guessing people have been reluctant to answer. Most likely they don't want to single any one person out, and perhaps they're worried about causing offence to the people they don't mention. That's certainly how I felt on first seeing the question.
Anyway, I am gradually getting around to answering the question...
First I'd like to say what Mahalo spirit means to me. I'd say the three main qualities are being thoughtful, friendly and helpful.
There are a a number of people that excel in all three, and there are some others that are strong in a couple of the areas, but not so strong on the third.
Even among the top group, there are a bunch that I can't really differentiate between. But then if I gave you a top three, why not make it a top five? Or top ten? And that wouldn't help you at all.
So with the caveat that there are a number of people that I could easily have chosen just as well, I will pick just one to nominate.
Step forward @spoon.
1) He writes well thought out answers that provide value to the asker. Often he writes from personal experience and his own know-how.
2) I believe he goes out of his way to help people that have not gotten a good answer. (Or any answer!)
3) He's a fun and friendly member of the community.
4) He takes an active part in community discussions, for example about ways to improve the system.
5) He is very generous when it comes to recycling tips.
I'd also add that he doesn't show some of the less helpful things we sometimes see here, like cut-and-paste answers, reliance on doubtful sources, or just not understanding the question properly.
In summary, there are other equally fine Mahalo-ites, but @spoon would be a worthy winner of the title and your M$.

Someone voted unhelpful my answer to a ques of his - he was kind to find out the answer and ask that person why he voted unhelpful and then gave a tip! Small gesture, but touched my heart.

Who shows the best Mahalo Spirit? Why?
I'm curious as to who you think exhibits the most Mahalo spirit plus I'm really interested in what behaviors people see that exhibit Mahalo spirit.
Here's the rules:
1. You can't nominate yourself.
2. You can't nominate me (I'm asking the question and I don't feel like paying people $5 to tell me how great I am).
3. You must say why. Giving specific examples with links will go a LONG way.
I'll give $5 to best answer and $5 to the person nominated.
Feel free to weigh in your opinion underneath an answer using the comment/fact refute button.

Jason Calacanis, just watch the videos. He's passionate about what he does, he interviews everyone at Mahalo, and he has tipped more than anyone on here. He's given M$1263.00 in tips already, he ranks #1. Jason has consistently been in the top 5 contributing members. He's basically an overachiever, always talking about new features, how the site can be better than the competitors, and has been very supportive of new members of the community by asking them about their experiences on Mahalo Answers. He talks about Mahalo in all the videos, makes himself available to everyone in the company. http://d869g1fflgodk.cloudfront.net/jasoncalacanis/jasoncalacanis_lg.png

Easyeboy has a severe case of Wikipedia-Cut-And-Paste-Asitis, and until he recovers I think his spirit will be lacking. I think the most important thing is to publish original answers that are from the heart, and it's hard to answer questions full-on 24hrs a day and not take the Wikipedia shortcut.

Actually Darcy is not a Mahalo employee either... she does freelance writing in the greenhouse for the how-tos but is not actually employed by Mahalo

However Darcy DOES get paid to write for Mahalo...
That said, I agree that copying and pasting answers is not what Mahalo is about

@easyeboy is learning how to properly cite his sources.... that was a key to his brown belt test. :-)
Quoting is just fine, but we need to establish putting " " around them, taking only a small percent of the overall work and linking clearly to the original source.
For example, saying: WebMD reports that the best thing to do in the case of a sprain is "KTKT KTKTKT KTKTKT KTKTKT KTKTKT KTKTK." http://www.webmd.com/tktktkktkt/tktktkktktktk.html
I think this is something we need to educate EVERYONE in the system about. if you see uncited material please post something similar to this comment.
