Which type of an answer would you pick as Best Answer? Please explain your choice!

You're voting for best answer in the undecided answers. There are two answers to a question and they are both technically correct. Which would you pick?

1. The answer has been directly quoted from the source, with that source listed, but there is no additional text from the answerer.

2. The answer is something like, "Here are some good links where you can find the answer to your question..." Then they post several good links to good sources.

3. No Best Answer

Out of those three choices, number 3 (no best answer) is the only choice.

1. This type of answer does not follow the rules in Copying and Pasting on Mahalo specifically this part.
~quote
When you do rely on copying somebody else's information as your answer, you always want to provide some original text from yourself, on Mahalo Answers you can perhaps explain why you are using this source and maybe even explain why you trust it.
~endquote

** highlight the word **always** in the above quote.

2. This type of answer is no good unless the questioner **asked specifically** "where can I find some good links on..." otherwise it is not an answer it is simply pointing the reader to the answer. If someone asks for an answer the want an answer not a way to find an answer. Asking the question on Mahalo Answers is their way of looking.

3. No best answer is the only choice in this scenario. If we are to keep a high standard here on Mahalo Answers we must both live by this highly set bar of what is acceptable and hold others accountable as well.

Okay, I understand that answer #1 doesn't follow Mahalo's copying and pasting rules.

Would it however be considered plagarism as @opher suggests if the quote/endquote is used and the source given?

And if so should it be reported as such?

Overall in Mahalo Answers, Mahalo and Mahalo Tasks "original content" is the standard we strive for and I am sure the author of the piece being copy and pasted would find it to be plagiarism regardless of the way it was used.

A piece of Copied and pasted material should be an accent to an answer a very small fraction of the total answer.

And yes Mahalo loves to hear about plagiarism. **Reoprt it every time** it is a violation of the Terms of Service

I'd probably go no best answer depending on the tip level.

If it was 25 cents I'd give it to option one. At least they tried, even if this isn't a very good way to answer questions.

If it was a higher tip though it's my opinion a little more than a google search and a copy paste should be offered. They paid for a quality answer and they should get it.

I would definitely not pick answer 1, as it is plagiarized. Quoting a source, even with attribution, but not adding substantial added information or analysis is plagiarism, and as such is illegal and against Mahalo's TOS.

I'd follow the links in answer 2 to see if they provide the answer, and if they do, I'd reluctantly vote for that as Best Answer. It provides the information albeit requires following a link, and is better than the other answer. Thus it is the best of two, and it is an answer, so I would not choose No Best Answer.
