I'm cautiously dipping a toe in. I've claimed a few really fun pages that will be a joy for me to research and maintain, but I've got to get the mechanics of it down.
So far all I've been able to really accomplish is adding an "Images" section to one of my pages and moving it around a bit. Tried adding some images...but failed. :(
I'm hesitant (like many Mahaloans) to dive too deep into my page, lest a bug or redesign sweep away all of my hard work. So I'm just taking it baby steps at a time, kind of doing my bare minimum for now, until I'm sure it's safe to proceed.
I can't wait though, I think in the long run I'm gonna have some F-U-N with my pages.

What was your experience creating a Mahalo Page?
I'm very excited about this. I saw that there was no page for the Internet celebrity Marina Orlova and went ahead and started one for her, yet I'm by no means a master. I think it's good that Wikipedia exists simply because I can find information on pages that have already been created. I find it quite intriguing that I can find and collect my favorite links to a page and create a page on any sort of information on the Internet.
I like the idea of receiving money to maintain a page.
It's certainly a plus, as I enjoy the process of gaining Mahalo Dollars, and hope to see my points grow in the system, as who wouldn't mind earning some money simply by claiming themselves to some famous names or brands. I tried to get the name Google, yet it looks like @cherman got that one, yet I was able to get Internet and took care of that one.
What is your strategy for Mahalo Pages? Are you going to create hundreds of pages?
Well, since I'm now a black belt, I guess that means the more pages I'm able to handle. I will see how many I can keep up with, which I'm sure it's not that many. I like the idea of managing them, yet creating them from scratch is not the easiest thing to do. Managing a page once a week, shouldn't be a problem, yet I believe some pages are not updatable as much, as some things never or seldom change. So, that's what makes it a challenge! I think it might be too much for Mahalo to expect some pages that are not newsworthy to be updated every week.

I just happened to stumble into this feature, now I see it's new... I've grabbed as many pages as I can (10 for a green belt) and look forward to building them up over time. Since it's way past midnight, I'll leave the editing for tomorrow.
My strategy is to grab pages for places familiar to me, some pages related to old and obscure hobbies and my favorite TV show from when I was a kid.

Now I've seen that when I've done a search on Mahalo for a page that doesn't yet exist, a box appears on the right-hand side telling me to select a category for the search subject. I believe that's how you get started on building a new page.
