Darfur. For the last six years, there has been a racially motivated genocide occurring in this western region of Sudan. 400,000 people have been murdered, and 2.5 million others have been forced to flee their homes. There is a humanitarian crisis regarding these refugees, and the United Nations has been unable to help to the extent needed.

The government of Sudan is enabling and supporting this genocide, and other countries (with ties to the Sudaneese leadership) have blocked attempts to bring peace and justice to Darfur. If this conflict is not stopped, hundreds of thousands more people could die.

A country that has been ignored for a long time, has finally crept to the world's attention recently is Somalia.

Somalia, is in Africa, bordering the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, east of Ethiopia.

Somalia has finally come to light due to recent attacks and hostage take over of Ships off the coast of Somalia in the Gulf of Aden. The country has a $600 per capita Gross Domestic Product (one of the lowest in the world ) along and a disease and hunger problem.

""Once peace and normalcy have returned to Somalia, we believe that economic development can return to Somalia," Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice

But is it to late to Help Somali, and African countries like it?

Swaziland. It is a landlocked country in southern Africa. They have been under a state of emergency since 1973. They have the highest percentage in the world of people with HIV/AIDS. In Swaziland, the people have no say in governmental decisions. Less than 60% of people that live in Swaziland are employed.

The most astounding fact is that they have the lowest life expectancy in the world: 32.23
