Hi Shinju, very good question one of the great challenges that Mahalo is currently working is a disambiguation system it will nip this issue at the bud. But until then you can search Google to see if we have pages before you build them. Just go to google and add site:mahalo.com at the end.

Now, what we can do in this situation, if you "abandon" the two Constitution pages you started and Claim the already established Constitution of the United States of America page we can create "redirects" that will direct anybody searching "US Constitution" or "U.S. Constitution" etc.. to be forwarded to the page you own.
Let me know if you need help with this.

It is a great idea to have a grammar and spell check in Mahalo. There should be some kind of method to avoid the confusion about the content in the pages.
When some search is done, and the title /subject is not there, then there should be a list of such subjects to be in the "to be developed" areas so somebody can actually work on it.

As for the spelling and grammar issue, we have our own remote guides looking over pages as they're being created to provide insight to the authors about fixing potential errors and making their pages better. Quality is important to us, and we're doing our best to maintain high standards while working with members of the public that have varying English and writing skills.
We may actually introduce spelling and grammar tools at some point to help people along in this process. For now, probably best to focus on making your own pages as good as they can be, and hopefully we will be able to get the entire community operating on one standard level of quality in the near future.

Mahalo is adding a tip to all questions that don't offer a tip.
What are your insights about using Mahalo and your ideas for improving it?
Here are some things I've learned:
If you do a Mahalo search for a topic, and you find a page that has not been claimed, then the page title will reflect your search terms. If you are not a good speller, or are not good at English grammar, please reconsider starting a page that will reflect your bad spelling and grammar. Unlike Wikipedia, existing text cannot be edited. For example, I did a search for "Us Constitution" and that was the name of the page I claimed. Realizing my mistake, I redid the search as "U.S. Constitution" to upgrade the quality of the page, and claimed that page also.
In the process, I noticed an existing link on the "U.S. Constitution" page for "The Constitution of the United States of America." This was the most developed page of the three, and also unclaimed! The issue here is that Mahalo does not disambiguate in the same manner that Wikipedia does, so we end up with multiple pages on the same topic, some more developed than others. Talk about unnecessary confusion!
I really care about the quality of my work and want to create the best product possible. However, Mahalo's limitations make this process difficult. I would like to see better editing tools, so that the Mahalo community can constantly improve not only content but grammar, etc., as well.
What do you think?

• Mahalo, Jeff:
That this is possible is excellent to know. Thanks for the tip.
However, I'm sorry I can't take you up on it at the moment, as I just received a project assignment at school. So, except for giving an answer now and then, I'll be pretty preoccupied until mid July. I realized that I started to commit myself prematurely, so page management will need to wait.
Respectfully,
Shin

Hi, Pellrider:
Yes, I think a "to be developed" list would draw attention to areas that need improvement.

As you can probably imagine, disambiguation and standardization is a very tricky thing for a site such as ours to implement. On the one hand, we don't want to lock anyone in to a search term that they aren't really looking for, but on the other hand, we have no need for 8 pages that all cover the same topic. We will be introducing a disambiguation option shortly, so that you will be able to differentiate your page from other similar pages that may already be on Mahalo (without intruding in on someone else's work, that is). As for the spelling and grammar issue, we have our own remote guides looking over pages as they're being created to provide insight to the authors about fixing potential errors and making their pages better. Yahoo! Search uses a "Search Assist" function when the querent begins to type. It will provide a list of search terms that build on what the person has already typed. I use this tool for medical transcription, when I have only a vague idea about what I'm trying to find. Check it out yourself, if you haven't already. Start by typing the first letter of a word, and check the results. Type the next letter of your word, and watch how the results change. Maybe this could be adapted for Mahalo's purposes.
I would love to be able to fix content on an existing page. I did send an email about this subject as it pertains to the "Cash for Clunkers" page that I claimed. I tried several times to edit the existing content, but the changes would not remain. It kept defaulting to the previous content.
