What are you going to do with your October Mahalo payment?

There were a lot of incentives to get us working this past month on Mahalo! Thanks to them for the great barnraisings and the How To Rocktoberfest!

If you requested your Mahalo payment on or before October 31st, it is scheduled to be paid to your paypal account on the 15th of November. Since the 15th is a Sunday, I suspect (I could be wrong) that Mahalo will not process payments until sometime on Monday November 16th.

If you're cashing out from Paypal into your bank account, Paypal takes another 5-7 business days to transfer the funds. This puts us just a week shy of December and well on our way to the Holiday Season!

So, what are your plans for your Mahalo dollars this month? What Christmas presents are you going to buy with them? Are there any charities that you are considering donating too?

Based on my Oct cash out amount I signed up to donate Christmas for a single mom of two disabled children. I had planned to adopt at least one child but because the amount was more than I had imagined I could do, I adopted the three of them and will send toys, clothes and a good card so mom can plan Christmas dinner.

I am anxious to see what the November payout looks like with the ongoing How to incentives.

I left enough in my account to cash out in the event I didn't do anything else, even though I knew I would. This would at least give me a split payment option so the money came in at two different times.

I don't have a paypal debit card either but have considered getting one.

What are your plans for your October payment?

Wow - good for you Maggieray. This is really outstanding.

My plans for my payout include:

1)
A donation to Kiva (more info on this coming in another question a little closer to the 16th).

2)
A few toys to give to my local Salvation Army. I've done this every year, but now with kids of my own it's even more important.

3)
Christmas presents, activities and fun for my kids. They lucky little buggers who have grandparents that spoil them rotten but we still get them something special. There's a Santa Train that we want to go on and a whole bunch of other fun Christmas activities!

I didn't have a chance to cash out this month. :( I hope I could take them by this month and receive them on December. I really need it by then. It's Christmas and I need a lot of money for the holidays!

I'll need money for...
- Gifts... gifts... and more gifts for my family and friends!
- Tons of fish for my cats! There are five cute funny cats at home! ^^
- Food for the holidays (both Christmas and New Year)! I cook during these special occasions! :)
- Anniversary gift for my special someone. :) We're celebrating our second anniversary on Christmas eve! ^^
- Monthly bills... as always. T.T

So there, nothing will go for me though. But I'm still happy cause I know I'll get the chance to make others happy this season! ^^

I have a paypal debt card so no extra 5-7 days for me.. however I'm going to spend it all on ebay because I'm an addict anyway.

I was shocked how much I made this month, I was even only here for the last part. Mahalo rocks!

The only for sure item I'm buying is a musical potty throne for my early potty training genius of a son. I wish they made them for adults, I wanna hear positively reinforcing music when I pee too. XD

http://greenbabyguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/singing-and-laughing-potty-chair.jpg

The rest is going to xmas presents in general. I think I may get my husband a Norwegian Axe. He collects knives, etc.

Course that will likely take more than just what's left after the pooper in online earnings if I want authentic and not cheap replica.

Those PayPal debit cards sure do look pretty. Sadly, here in Canada they are no longer available. There were about a year ago, so those with them are lucky... but for the rest of us Canucks, we're left out in the cold again / still.

Good thinking with that musical potty - we have that exact one and it's great!

I have a PayPal Debit Card, so I have instant access to my PayPal funds, which is awesome. Unfortunately, I don't get to do anything fun with my money. A rock hit my windshield last week, and I have 3 large cracks in my windshield that seem to grow bigger every day. So I'm going to be using my Mahalo money to get a new windshield.

Did you check your auto insurance policy? Many of them have free windshield replacement and they come to your house to do it. That will let you do something else with your earnings.

I still have some left-over Gift Certificates on Amazon from a previous job, so I am probably going to spend that money on a gadget gift for myself. I am eyeing the Amazon Kindle, as it's now shipping internationally, and will allow me to buy US books at no additional shipping costs (electronic books ship for free!).

So, that leaves me with my Paypal money, free to spend any way I want. Luckily, The Netherlands has quite some online shops that support paypal payment, so I don't even have to cash out to a bank-account. My favorite location is 'Marktplaats', which is basically a local version of ebay, but without the auction.
I'll probably be buying lots and lots of gifts for myself (like Playstation 3 games), and for the missus. I'm quite sure there's going to be some lef-over, so I still have to decide to do with the other part.

See, Mahalo can put you in quite some trouble: Where to spend all that earned money?? I like that kinda trouble!

Edit: Oh, I almost forgot! I might also include a gift to Oxfam Novib, a Dutch branch of Oxfam, which I also support by walking 100 kilometers in 30 hours during their Oxfam Novib Trailwalker !

There's not going to be a color version soon, I think. Plus, chances are that version will not be shipped internationally right away. The DX is also only US oriented for now..
Still, it's an expensive toy :)

I know this is the most boring answer in the world, but my car insurance runs out in December, so I will be renewing that, save me getting fined for about 10 times as much.

However I will be treating my animals to a meat meal instead of the usual dry biscuits, it is christmas after all.

Going to buy winter boots for me and my kid. Previous ones are not good any more. Hopefully I will start working soon!!!!

When I usually request for the payment, the money balance will be shown there. But this time, I am not sure, the full amount is still seen in my profile page. May be I made a mistake and the money hasn't transferred at all.
So, i am not making big plans on how to spend yet.
I am glad I did some tasks and got some best answers. Congrats to me!!!
Too bad Canadians cannot have a PayPal debit card. Any ideas Robbrown???

I'm going to disneyland!

No really, do people cash out? If so why? I use this place kinda like gambling. You win some, then use the winnings to create more questions and tip more people. If people do really cash out, is this site is more like a money making opportunity?

Mmmm.. maybe this should be a new question :P

Hi rondata, I see Mahalo more as a community that give you money making opportunities along with the intellectual stimulus and fun.

Building and managing pages on Mahalo is a great way to build up a little extra cash, in fact some page managers earn quite a nice sum every month from their efforts. Look into it, it might be something you are good at and that you want to do.

I think it's like a game too, Rondata. Except, I think that it's like Monopoly.

But yes, some folks earn over M$40 every month and are able to cash out. I contribute a good amount back into the community... and I have cashed out every month since I started contributing here in January!

Well thanks to the kindness of everyone here (donations) plus the awesome page views, tasks, and contest winnings I will be using my October mahalo payment to make a house payment. How cool is that?

Again taking the opportunity to say thanks all for the donations when the evil heart attacks got me down..

I look forward to this new month! Cheers all.

Ah, unfortunately I don't know enough about Mahalo to really be making serious money on here. It's still my first month, and I've not reached the minimum. I'm only doing answers so far.

My plan for Mahalo money once it starts coming in is the occasional pizza party for my kids. We don't eat out very often, so it seems like that would be a fun thing to do with it. I'll be looking into other ways of using Mahalo this week. Thank you for such an interesting question.

You know, you're not as far behind as you might think!

Mahalo only allowed people to start creating and managing pages in June of this year. That means that everyone else (myself included) started the same way that you did... by answering questions.

The minimum payout (M$40) is attainable just by answering a few questions, but if you want to receive over M$100 per month regularly... getting good at creating and managing pages is where it's at.

This is probably the most boring answer you'll receive-- but as I do every month, my Mahalo payout goes towards my daughter's college tuition. It's the best investment I can make.

I don't plan to spend it on anything in particular. It just goes into the bank to use whenever it is needed for basic everyday expenses.

I plan to use most of my payment to buy Christmas gifts. This was only my 2nd payment request ever, and the first was kinda dismal, so this one was pretty big! I have a HUGE family so I have a lot of people to buy gifts for. I'm also going to use the money to buy some toys for Toys for Tots, one of my favorite charities.

And of course, Black Friday is coming up in a few weeks, and I love to shop so....we'll see what happens. ;)

Since I had problem cashing out october payment, then I'll have to cash it together with November pay. I'll use it to pay Christmas vacation for me and my family. Then I'll use it to shop at the year end clearance sale. After writing all about sale and fashion, I'm very very tempted to buy stuff.

My daughter is getting married next June and everything I earn online goes into a special wedding account.

This is our only daughter, and the boyfriend and wedding were somewhat of a surprise.

I lost my job in March. My wife is still working and we are living on her check while I try to earn money for the wedding.

I also have a son in college who seems to spend money faster than the government can print it, but he's not getting any of my Mahalo money!

I'm greedy. The money I'm receiving in November from my online writing is going to buy a Christmas present for myself.

Some people I've been around for awhile may recall that I don't buy Christmas presents. Many events over the last several years have brought me to this decision but I refuse to buy a gift just because some marketing whizzes decided to brainwash the rest of the world.

But yes...I'm buying myself a Christmas present this year. I didn't make a lot on Mahalo in October, but I did hit payout (Woot Woot!!!) and I'm getting an OK PVB from another site. When I add that to the money I already have in my Paypal account, plus any other that I'll get for upfront payments I will have enough money to pay for the one gift that will make me, my son, my boyfriend and my parents happy at Christmas.

My daughter, who lives in Kansas City, Missouri will be in my home in Central Ohio for a week to 10 days through the holiday season.
