You should also highlight them or make them bold, just so everyone knows. If there were a way to remove them, that would be good as well, as not everyone cares to answer or see these questions. The stakes may be high, yet the question is not for everyone to answer.

You should also give the asker the ability to tip and reward more than one answer over 50.

I like your ideas, especially about being able to split the tip.

However I think highlighting/bolding the questions would make the front page look bad. I hope they don't do this.

I'm sorry I didn't think of that. That is a fabulous idea. I think you should maybe even take it one step closer and make it some kind of average. Say if the average value of a question is $1.25 and you are some % above that you get pinned for some % of a 24 hours at the top. I think this is likely to increase high dollar value questions. And in turn encourage more answers and enthusiasm for the product.

I agree to an extent-we mustn't complicate things too much.

The rule that anything over $50M will automatically stay on the front page for at least 24 hours is awesome! Perhaps anything over $25M can stay on the front page for 1 or 2 hours (after which it gradually falls down the page as would a normal question).

I second easyeboy's suggestion - the highest-tipped questions could be made bold, as that should drive more casual users into answering, if only for the sake of the higher tips!

I think having it at the top of the page, as well as seeing the huge tip amount, makes people well aware of the question.

Bolding it would just annoy me.

I agree. Being the first questions on the page make it highly visible as it is. I also like the idea above from easyeboy to allow the asker to split the tip among the answers they find most helpful as one may provide only part of the full answer they were looking for.

Good idea. Here is another suggestion. How about from10-50 mahalo dollar questions remaining in the front page for some time. I mean slow in going down. I am posting chinese 50 currency :).

Good idea. Maybe the limit should be even lower, say >= M$20?

You can always raise it back up to M$50 in the future if, as we'd all love, big tips become more common.

One thing to be careful of is not allowing No-Best-Answer to be selected too easily, after all the work that is likely to be put in.

Perhaps only allow no best answer to be chosen when there are fewer than 5 or 10 answers?

@philipy I have suggested $25M+ gets top of front page for 1 or 2 hours (after which it gradually falls down the page as would a normal question). To have a question on top of the front page for 24 hours, I agree with Jason that $50M seems like the perfect amount.

I disagree about making it harder to pick No-Best-Answer. Although I agree we need to monitor to avoid cheating the system, making it harder to pick No-Best-Answer will actually DISCOURAGE people from asking high tipped questions.

If I ask a question and only tip $1M or $2M, even if there aren't great responses, I will just take the loss and move on. But if I ask a $25M (that's a lot of work to earn that much), and if I don't get any really good answers, I should be able to pick No-Best-Answer to get a refund.

-just my 2 mahalo cents

$1M means one million dollars to most people. The way to write one mahalo dollar is M$1. :)

It shouldn't be impossible to withhold a tip. Nor should it be trivially easy.

Just watch what happens and how people feel if the guy that offered M$75 for the question about socialist policies decides they don't like any of the answers.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I'm stealing the Chinese 50 person's idea... my favorite trip was when I went to Bosnia in 2000, the main currency I saw there was kuna (followed by lire, deutchmarks, and then dollars). So... 50 kuna for you!

This is a really good idea, what about other lower dollar questions like $25.00 would be at the top for maybe 8 hours and $15.00 questions for 4 hours etc.

Also, dude change your name and your picture. Everytime I see it I get creeped out!

At this point, we are still a capitalistic society. I am motivated by this, hence, I want the biggest money question(s) on the top. Isn't that what the person asking the question deserves? They are paying for a service.
