I don't necessarily oppose politics on this kind of website, but I think if we had many political discussions, that's what they would turn into - discussions - a forum of some sort, and that's not what Mahalo Answers is. This website was primarily designed to provide facts, not heavily opinionated diatribes, which I think is what may come out of it.

The community touched on this subject earlier in the week:

yes actually I like them being avoided, religion shouldnt be asked to amateurs as most people will give a point of view answers, also politics is alot more advanced for users to put up answers, instead it can be polled or openions :)

G'day Smabres,

Thank you for your question.

There is in fact a politics subcategory under news.

While it is good to have people knowledgeable about politics, you can end up with people who are more interested in fighting arguments for their team than in answering questions.

Thanks for your prompt answer, I thought so, it is a shame, at least for me, I love to answer a couple of Home-Work-Math questions and then fight a little for fun on Politics or Religion categories, it seams I will not be able to do that in Mahalo, this of course is for me you just enjoy the site.

There are plenty of other sites for political discussion such as forums or Topix.

I very happy that this isn't an argumentative site. I like to help people. I don't like having flame wars over things that might be very important to some people but is just a game to others.

Bring on the politics, it just may not be the same type of debate that is typical on the internet

I know there are a few anarchists-libertarians and people who move throughout a left-wing spectrum here. There are not enough questions yet and we are still having fun trying to know potential competitors-friends. If you ask for the kind of yahooish, biased, political, neonazi, already answered by friends question, then I think they're being avoided and I hope it stays that way.

Just a conspiracy theory.

No, I'm speaking of all the questions I answered at Yahoo Answers. There are a lot of Spanish neonazis. Just take a look at it in Spanish and pay close attention at the nicknames (and if you speak Spanish, at the answers too). I don't know yet what your political views are, nor if you're trolling around or asking serious questions.

See: "Why is mahalo answers so boring? Is it because is a copy of Yahoo answers?"
Your comment to the best answer:

"your answer was not very helpful and very prejudistic, thinking I have already made my mind on mahalo, but shed some light when you said: "I am noticing that the community is attempting to build itself on QUALITY answers, friendly conversations" I now kind of understand why is boring, too friendly."

1) You congratulate someone for not being prejudicial, but
2) you think you already made your mind on Mahalo, even though it's still in beta phase.
3) You don't like it friendly but want to argue? I don't get it.
4) I'm a "non-conformist", to say the least.
5) I've been reading many questions and answers. By anarchists I'm not making any references to you, but to people whose original and well thought answers I like.
6) I use two opposite sides of a simplified political spectrum JUST to give an example, but you seem to take both.
