Answered Question

The big reveal, I recently asked my first Anonymous question and only got one answer. Would I have gotten more answers if I asked as me?

http://www.mahalo.com/answers/humor/aha-i-am-the-masked-avenger-guy-who-would-you-pick-to-create-a-mahalo-super-hero-team-pick-members-and-give-them-powers

Added info, the one answer I did get was awesome!
I gave the question an interesting to add a little to the tip as did another Mahaloan.

I did not want to ask as me as I did not want my name to influence getting put on a team.

Related question: If I decided to answer my own question would that be tacky or in poor taste?

I don't believe knowing who the asker is or having it be anonymous would affect how many answers you get, with the possible exception on the margins if there are some users who tend to follow you around on Mahalo and try to answer all your questions (sort of like groupies follow rock bands :)). Personally, I answer or not based on the question, not the asker.

As for answering your own question, I believe that's against the TOS, and even if it isn't, it should be, unless you're the only source of tips for the question. It is certainly tacky and unethical if you then choose your own answer as Best Answer, after sucking in other answerers.

I can't choose the best answer. It goes to vote with an Anon question, but I am still avoiding it.

Frankly if I could choose best answer I would be more likely to answer it just for fun, and just pick someone else as best,

Yes, and yes! ;-)

You have established a presense on Mahalo.com so there are people who would answer your question just because you are you.

Answering your own question would indeed lack tact and should not even be possible.

Is it???

Yup, but I can't select best answer. It goes to vote. I wanted to see how the system worked first hand & considering the exact question I did not want people to put me in a team simply because I was the asker.

I know it would've made a difference for me! I might have answered this question knowing it was you, @cheapgamer, just because there's an established community connection so I wouldn't have to worry about explaining things to you, dodging "in-jokes", or otherwise simplifying things for a site newbie.

Plus, your question asks for a lot of thought and consideration, and (not realizing until just now that anon cannot pick the BA) I would be concerned that the person picking the BA would have ulterior motives, or wouldn't vote at all.

So I do think it made a difference, and for this sort of question my recommendation would be to attach your name to it--even at the risk of other people adding (or not adding) your name to their roster! :)
