I have had the same problem so i know how you feel . I would like to say
it can be slow getting it now that you asked how we feel about it
i think i might have some out there to. also i asked a lady a question on here
and my tip was a dollar she has not reply to me in a while now i hope i get the dollar back soon. i feel we should let mahalo know when it happens.

Not it is not fair because someone is asking for help and we don't mind helping and yes it is right to pay someone for there answer .

You will get the dollar when the asker chooses you as the best answer. Most of the time you should get the money right away, but it depends on the asker. Some staff members are inactive for a while. You could send them a direct message. Or just wait a while, I think that would be more polite.

I also had one in limbo, but I didn't want to ask them to give me the dollar already I thought It would make me seem greedy but I just wanted the question to disappear from my direct question queue. I received at the beginning of the month. It can happen at anytime though. :D Congrats on the New Belt!

@willpopo Do you mean tips directly from other members? or tips from questions? Your not alerted when someone tips you directly.

Tips are instantly, you should have them in your account the second you get them.

Well, it's pretty simple. The initial email congratulating you is sent out immediately, whereas the actual payment is a manual process. They want to read what you have to tell them. However, Staff is pretty busy, and many belt-mails are sent out daily. Therefore, it can indeed take some time.

But rest assured, at some point in time you WILL get your M$, I got all of mine.
In the meantime, enjoy what Mahalo has to offer, and maybe make a few more M$$ doing that. You can't cash out before you reach M$40 anyway...
It was unfair to choose no best answer
The question was properly answered by more than one person. There is no reason to choose 'no best answer'. Willpopo is playing it cheap, I will avoid his/her questions from now on.

I understand where you're coming from with this, Willpopo.

You see that a direct question has a M$1 tip attached to it. You do your work and answer the question. But, you don't get the M$1!

The missing step here is that the person who asked the question must "review" it. Technically, they must accept your answer by rating it with the little stars. Then (and only then) is your direct question tip transferred into your account.

On one hand, receiving the M$'s right away makes sense.

On the other hand, the person asking the question needs to be able to verify that your answer was adequate.

For the specific type of automated "congratulations" belt-level questions that you're referring to, I agree - any answer really could be the best answer. However, these questions are asked (albeit automatically) using the same direct question system as every other direct question. So, they need to be rated for the M$'s to transfer.

This is a bit of an "itchy" spot in an important Mahalo process. It's one that the staff is aware of (I've brought it up before) and one that I hope is on the whiteboard for them to review.

There were a few good answers to this one. Please don't fund a tip if you don't plan on awarding it.

Robbrown is right.... it takes us a while to get to these but we normally do. I might tell our folks to take the M$1 off of these and just make them completely a question for research and to start conversations with new members--which is what they are. The M$1 is just a nice little thank you, but it's not worth the headache since we get this thread/complaint every couple of weeks.

We're only human... we make mistakes! :-)

In a perfect world, then yes. But like @robbrown mentioned, the tip is awarded once someone on the staff reviews it. I also see it as those automated questions do ask questions regarding Mahalo: do we like it, what can be improved, etc. So obviously the staff does want to read them and see what people's impressions of Mahalo are.

I know what you mean. I'm still waiting on my two dollars!
I believe it's only when the staff reviews your answer, that they give you the Mahalo Dollars.
I've been waiting for three days, so I'm starting to think it isn't automatic.

I guess I can be of assistance here, considering my account sends out these congratulations/welcomes for White, White Tip and Purple Belts.

Personally, I like to read each piece of feedback and offer a non-automated response to any feedback that is offered.

Understand this too, Mahalo is in a major growth period, the numbers are staggering and staff are extremely busy. I like to keep Direct Question and Direct Answer inbox close to empty and I usually do before I sign off at night.

But even today, I wake up to...

This is a long weekend, a lot of staff are off, even myself, I've only been working short shifts as we have family visiting, I do plan on rating all Direct Answers I get ASAP, I just might not get them all done in one sitting.

With all that said, I do know that automated messages being sent out for some belts from ex-staff members, it's a bug and I've asked for it to be fixed and I've been told a fix is in the works. So unfortunately for some Direct Questions that you might have answered, they might never get rated, for that I can only apologize.

“had to wait 1 week” may be long..
Some of the things that you can do:
1. Check whether the persons sending you these direct questions have any activities recently in their profile page.
If it’s dormant for long, it maybe system problems, staffs no longer working there etc.., seek help from other “active staffs” for examples @jeffhoard :-)
I guess another possibility may be staffs may have “read the answers but forget to rate it”.

2. asking question
like this one…it’s a good way to highlight problems :-)

I'm not sure if the Mahalo staff knows this or not, but most people seem to be having trouble receiving their tips from sarabond. She hasn't logged in for a while.

Perhaps a Mahalo staff member should go into her account and reward everybody with their tips. If not, they should at least make her account stop sending the automated messages.
