Pages are more attractive, and am I noticing less ads?
It will take me a few days to get used to it, but when I do I will no doubt like it more. Also, I've noticed pages loading faster, and editing of pages seems easier!

Oh dear. I think it's a step backwards.
- Top 7s gone? They were the centerpiece of most pages, and one of the main reasons to visit a Mahalo page.
- With the Top 7 gone, and the Guide note column much wider, what had looked like great snappy info in the guide note that went well with the pointers to more detailed resources in the Top 7 now just looks rather lame and thin.
- A lot of the screen space "above the fold" is taken up with ads. An as whose text is often in a large font than our content! Couple that with what now looks like rather thin info in the Guide Note, and the whole effect looks spammy. Like someone threw up a few small paras and surrounded it with ad blocks in the hope of making a few bucks. Not like a site that sets out to be helpful and trustworthy above all.
- Carefully selected and annotated videos that were positioned as featured objects near the top of the old "Links" section are now showing way down towards the bottom of the new left column. i.e. Some of the strongest and most engaging content has been pushed way below the fold.
Maybe it'll grow in me. But if those are my first impressions, they'll probably be the first - and only - impressions of people that arrive on Mahalo from a Google search. If I arrived on my own pages from a Google search, I'd take a look for a microsecond, and decide "not what I was looking for", and move on to other sites. Scary thought.

Now though I have been into a number of my pages and added new categories and it worked like a charm.
Overall, the pages are clear and visually attractive; I also like the Fast Facts being integrated just off to the right like that of the main open statement, very relevant and supportive of the opening statement or definition ...
I also like how easy it is to drag and place the sections now, had a little problem before with this as well but works nicely now.
All in all I like it very much and I think visitors to the page will find it much clearer and easier to take in the information and choices they are presented with.

Pro: the front page is very clean, very organized
Con: I miss the daily news headlines. Did they move somewhere else?
Pro: the answer field is nice and says.. er.. SCREAMS that answers are easy to enter.
Con: the field and button do tend to stand out over anything else on the page, minimizing the other content on the page.
So far, it's fast and clean and neat. I will have to get used to where all of the other content is that I was used to seeing on the main page.

I didn't notice earlier but now it seems Related Mahalo pages and Twitter are both showing on the page twice (on each side) and I can no longer move the video to the top of the page. I sometimes have issues just because of delays on my end. Can someone confirm if these are showing duplicates for others? I deleted some and then decided I should wait in case for an answer.

I was able to delete a duplicate Twitter section. When I attempted to delete the duplicate Related Mahalo Pages section on the right-hand side, it got deleted on the left-hand side. Also, the Related Mahalo Pages lists a page twice and I can't see how to delete the second one. Like you, maggieray, I'll just check it out again later.

Thanks for informing Jeff. That means Mahalo 3.0 is gonna ROCK !!!!
Btw, I just checked my managed pages. The layout is superb and the Ad placement is excellent as it is situated on where most people look for content when they enter the page. :D

At first I thought you were being a bit harsh. Personally I'm really glad to see the Mahalo Top 7s go. They took up space, and who wants to drive traffic away from Mahalo? If you want to search for other sites, Google will suit your purposes.
However, I agree that the Guide Note does theme awfully small in it's new location.
Are the featured videos and pictures not allowed to be moved up towards the top of a page? I have tried on my pages and it appears that they can not move past a certain point. I think arriving to a Mahalo page about a musician, singer, or celebrity is a lot more engaging when a video or picture is "above the fold."

"Who wants to drive traffic away from Mahalo?"
On the vast majority of Mahalo pages, the main reason to visit at all is to find those carefully selected high-quality links.
That was a win/win for the page creator and a page visitor. As a creator, you didn't have to reinvent the wheel or write a huge article, you could write a snappy summary and point people to great resources. Resources that are maintained by experts and expert communities that it is pointless for you to try to replace. As a visitor, you got the basics fast, and you got sent to places that had all the resources you could ever want, and which a lone Mahalo page manager could never replicate.
Mahalo gets it's value and credibility from the quality of its outbound links as much as anything on the site.

I love the new layout and overall display of the new Pages! Also the Categories now work for me yay. Until now I was not able to edit or add Categories, every time I tried internet explorer would lockup in what seemed like an endless loop, and then my computer would become totally locked and I would have to do a hard shutdown. i.e. power it off, oooooooo bad stuff. Now though I have been into a number of my pages and added new categories and it worked like a charm.

Good point on the news headlines being gone. That was one of the first things I hit each day as a Mahalo user, but thinking about it I wonder how many people land on the front page initially. I think as people start going to Mahalo.com as a starting point that will be a feature that would be important to have

Yes, I agree. People hitting the front page should be presented with the news headlines, which should then go to relevant links/answers/pages.

Great pros/cons.
I miss the video of the day "video of the day," but the new home page overall a lot more attractive than it was before. I also think the answers feature is a bit big!
