New Direct Questions text stuck?

The "New Direct Questions!" text that appears at the top right of the screen seems to be stuck on "2 New Direct Questions!".

Is that normal?
Does it update periodically or something?

Yup, but they are working on that. In the meantime, there is a work-around: Reply to the question or answer that is 'stuck' as new, which can be anything, like a comment. This removes the question (or answer) from the list, at least it does for me!
