Is there a way to comment on a comment?

I am new here so please excuse me if I ask this stupid question. I was going through my answers and I noticed that it tells you if someone commented on your response to a question. I went back and read them and noticed that there was no way to comment, the comment that was given to me. Did I miss something?

You did not miss something, you are right. There is no way to reply to a comment directly. Like mentioned above, you can reply to your own answer and it will leave a comment below the last comment, but the person will not be notified about it unless they go back and check it manually.

This is one feature that I have been asking for ever since the beginning, but we still don't have it. It's not a huge problem, but it would be a lot better if there was an option to reply directly to comments. This way people would know when their comment is being replied to.

@catt969 - I would go ahead and comment anyway. Even though as @soundboy said... they don't get a reminder unless it's on their own answer, they still might go back and look.

You can also check the 'spy' feature at the top of the page to see comments made on all the questions floating out there. It's fun, so give it a try too!
