All I get when I click on Answers Home is "no open questions".

I think the technical term is a hiccup and yes Answers seems to have a case of them.
To their credit they seem to go away quickly.

I got the same thing. It's over now. Probably a temporary thing, maybe they were updating something. It happens on all sites.
Something changed in the matrix, It is still in Beta so there will probably be a lot of that happening for a while but it should get better. But if it is anything like Gmail or many other web site it will be in Beta for many many years.
