2. Try to be helpful - Really, if you don't have anything to add, be quiet. All you're doing is hoarding points and decreasing the signal-to-noise ratio.
3. Have fun - Helping people shouldn't be a chore. Not to mention, you're getting paid to do this. Enjoy it!
4. Stick to what you know - Everyone knows a little bit about a lot of things. Few people know a lot about certain things. Let the experts be the experts and get paid for their expertise.
5. Grammar counts - If your sentence doesn't make any sense, even a correct answer could get passed over.
6. Spelling counts - Spell check is your friend. It's painful to read horribly spelled answers and may lead to issues, including having your correct answer go unnoticed.
7. Be nice - There are plenty of other places to start and fight in flame wars, this should not be one of them.
8. Vote - If you see an answer or comment that is exemplary, vote it up. If you see an answer or comment that doesn't belong, vote it down. This is a community effort, participate.
9. Be concise - A short yet detailed answer that gets right to the point is a much better read than a long rambling one that takes paragraphs to get to a point.
10. Remember that JCal is the man - Self-explanatory.

If Mahalo Answers had commandments at all I'd leave. I prefer it to be more community driven and just regulated by the coded possibilities. I prefer recommendations instead and being rated high or low depending on the quality of what I say (by that I mean that there are cooler and better ways of informing users of how the site works or doesn't work, instead of prohibiting things, which rarely works).
