It looks like I've given back about 20% of my earnings into questions and other tips. When I ask a question, I usually tip everyone who has a good answer with at least an M$, usually M$2.
I use a portion of my Mahalo Dollars on Kiva to help foster business throughout the world too:

I recommend using your balance earned, not PayPal, as this keeps the Mahalo Dollars in the community. Mahalo Answers is not in a recession, at least to my knowledge, as Mahalo Dollars keep flowing in the community.
James Hong, one of the guys who started HotorNot.com has a website called 10 over 100, which he recommends people pledge to give back 10% of whatever they make over 100,000 a year.

I do generally end up "giving back" all I earn so far, but that is mainly because I don't earn very much and if I want to ask a question and see it show up highlighted then it is simple and cheap for me to kick in a dollar. And it's less rigamarole to draw that out of earnings than out of PayPal. (In fact, if I draw it out of earnings, I'm actually getting more bang for my buck: a dollar's worth of answer for the real-world equivalent of 75 cents.)
Of course, I have less incentive to kick that buck back in now that all answers are going for a buck. So we'll see what happens over the next week and a half.
(Oh, I just realized the question was talking tips, not answer fees. I don't generally tip much, but that's because I don't generally have many Mahalo dollars built up. I ask them away as soon as I earn them. Though, again, we'll see what happens now that I'm less inclined to spend my earnings on questions for a little while.)

How much of your Mahalo earnings do you give back to the community in tips? What do you consider fair?
Since I started I have put back about 20% (many of my tipped questions I have asked in the past few days only) of the $M I've given back into tipped questions of my own. As time passes, the percentage I'm operating at on giving back seems to grow; which I feel good about! How much do you give back? What range do you feel is healthy/fair to give back?
Bonus Question: What do you do with the money you do cash out?

• You giving back (to Mahalo Answers and to Kiva) is truly commendable

i am relatively new to Mahalo and have been earnestly trying to accumulate as many Mahalo dollars as possible. That said I must admit that I have only tipped out around 35% or so of what I have earned so far. My goal is to tip out half of what I make each month. I find myself answering a lot of questions and forgetting to ask some questions also. I think that my 35% is fair for now and like I said in the future I hope to share up to 50% of my tips with the Mahalo community.

When you can, I always recommend giving back at least 10% of your Mahalo Answers income. So, if you make $100 on Mahalo Answers, giving at least 10% of that would be $10 back to the community. Some people are more or less generous. For instance, Jason Calacanis will give out hundreds of dollars, but he's the exception to the rule. I recommend using your balance earned, not PayPal, as this keeps the Mahalo Dollars in the community. Mahalo Answers is not in a recession, at least to my knowledge, as Mahalo Dollars keep flowing in the community.

I don't think in terms of percentages. In fact, I've paid far more into Mahalo in terms of tips than I've gotten out of it. (I posted a couple of relatively pricy questions before realizing that I got the same advice if I just kicked in one buck. :) I do generally end up "giving back" all I earn so far, but that is mainly because I don't earn very much and if I want to ask a question and see it show up highlighted then it is simple and cheap for me to kick in a dollar. I havn't earned much till now. But, since Paypal hasn't established itself in Pakistan, I would end up in using my earned Mahalo Dollars in using in this community mostly because getting Mahalo dollars other way than Paypal is difficult. I wonder If Mahalo will ever send Dollars earned to those countries where Paypal isn't available.

Mahalo Dollars are the currency of Mahalo Answers.
Each Mahalo Dollar costs $1.
Once you earn more than 40 Mahalo Dollars, you can request to be paid via PayPal. Each Mahalo Dollar is currently worth $0.75 when paid out via PayPal. Learn More

This may be true and I usually tip only $1M, but if finding an answer to a question is REALLY important to me; I feel good tipping up to $5M.
