Good question. I think the quality of my answers has gotten better over time. The more time you spend here, the better you understand the community and the more you realize what is expected from an answer.
Like you, some of my early work was not up to par. I might have given just a few words and a link. I might have even been guilty of copying and pasting text on occasion. But over time I learned how to give better answers by taking the time to write original genuine thought out answers.
Of course on occasion I might get a little lazy or tired and submit an answer that is not the best, but overall I think my abilities for answering questions has improved since I first started.

I've also discovered that the answers to the questions here are of better quality, IMO, than from other QA sites like askville, wikianswers and so on.
In closing, I like it here quite a bit!

How has the quality of your answers changed since you began at Mahalo Answers? Are you still improving? Declining?
Take a look at you first "best answer" and see how much, or even if, your style or quality of answer has changed. Mine have changed dramatically, as I have tried to learn more each day as to the best way to answer a question.
Here is my first "best answer".. This made me chuckle when I read it a moment ago.

I agree 100%, except that nearly all of the improvement in my answers came on my first day here. I gave an accurate but simple and offhand answer, without references (it might have been a Best Answer on some other Q&A sites), and got a quick negative comment. Since then, I've just tried to be as thorough as possible in my research and as clear as possible in my explanations, and the comments have become more favorable.

I am new to the site, but would have a hard time believing that spending time here could some how improve a persons analytical skill or ability to put words together.

I've been here less than a week, and been learning how to improve the quality of my answers as I go along. During times i couldn't find any questions i wanted to answer i've also looked back at older answered questions, as well as past best answers from other members, of different rankings to see how they improved as they moved up the ranks, so to say. I've also discovered that the answers to the questions here are of better quality, IMO, than from other QA sites like askville, wikianswers and so on.
In closing, I like it here quite a bit!
