i go by whoever gave the answer that was the most helpful to me. if a video or picture didn't add to the helpfulness, or other people voted it helpful but it didn't actually help *me* then i wouldn't vote for that answer.
when they add extra resources for me to get more information, that is always seen as a plus to me and shows they put some time into it.
if it came down to two answers that were equally helpful, then i have to pick the first one that got me a helpful answer.
and copy and paste is not even considered for best answer...

But generally its the person who can give the best 'real' explanation that I tend to prefer. By that I mean the reply is the sort of answer a human rather than an encyclopedia gives.

How do you select the best answer for your own question and while voting?
If there are similar answers, what is that you look for in an answer to vote/select as the best?
Do you just select based on the helpful votes? oldest? longest? the one with pictures/videos?
How about the copy and pasted answers (without following the guidelines)?

It depends on the question. Where a video/picture helps answer the question then that helps. But generally its the person who can give the best 'real' explanation that I tend to prefer. By that I mean the reply is the sort of answer a human rather than an encyclopedia gives.
