I joined Mahalo Answers on the 1st January - and at that time there was not many questions being asked and the community seemed to lack the spirit it has today.
I returned to Mahalo Answers in March and I had noticed that there were much more questions and Mahalo Answers were tipping questions with $0.25. I think it was a mixture between the possibility of making some small cash as well as the amount of questions being just the right balance that made me use Mahalo Answers.
The main thing that keeps me at Mahalo Answers is because I love going on it and answering people's questions. I have noticed that with the increase in Twitter questions it is harder to find a question you like unless you search through a lot, but I still very much enjoy asking questions and answering. As well, Mahalo has been really informative. For many of my answers, I have to do some research to know what a product is or what the event is before I can answer about a certain feature or what is happening.
I also like being rewarded for answers in tips. I think that it is more awarding to have money than points - as it seems like you have achieved something which you could use in the future. I am also very fond of the Mahalo belt system - and I am determined to get a brown belt soon!
For all of you members out there - you may be a little bit put off the belt system thinking that you will NEVER be a black belt. Well, all famous members were all at your stage once. I have found an image showing members like @jasoncalacanis and @sara with green belts! (As well as our former member @darcy_logan).

I started for the money. Once I realized that I wasn't going to get rich answering questions and voting for answers, I started to post my own questions. And, lo and behold, I have gotten some great answers! For example: I posted the other day for some advice about which digital recorder to buy and got some solid info that let me to a purchase.

How did you first find Mahalo Answers?
I heard about Mahalo at a conference (I'm sorry I forget which one) about a year ago. I didn't really think too much of it other then thinking that the "human powered search" sounded like a great idea... well, other then the labour that would be involved in creating and maintain an archive powerful enough to be useful. However, I think at first blush, that's what everyone assumes.
Some time after that, I was pressing the stumble-upon button doing some market research and came across this question:
http://www.mahalo.com/answers/money/what-internet-business-models-do-you-think-will-thrive-during-this-deep-recession
Jason Calacanis tipped me (M$1) for my answer and I thought, "hu... that's pretty neat" and continued answering questions. I haven't stopped :)
2)
What made you start using Mahalo Answers?
I think that it was a combination of positive re-enforcement for my initial contribution along with the realization that there were interesting questions that I could answer.
If I hadn't of been tipped early on, quickly made my first M$40 payout, or found interesting questions, I would have left. I think that the user interface was exceptionally important. Without much effort, I was able to easily understand how to answer a question and where to find other interesting questions.
3)
What keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
I like getting paid for answering questions. While I'm not here only for the money, it is a fun and tangible point system. When I win best answer on a question and see my M$ balance increase, that is rewarding beyond the monetary value of the M$. In the same breath, I don't particularly care about belt levels because at the end of the day, there is no difference between a purple and brown belt.
I like answering questions. I've used traditional forums and blogs to answer questions in the past but never really felt valued or rewarded beyond the simple "thank-you's" that I would receive. Here, I am occasionally tipped for a good answer and sometimes acknowledged by the community when I jump a major belt level.
Above all else, it's the questions themselves that keep me here. Answering these questions here helps me to think outside of my own little world by helping others.

2. What made you start using Mahalo Answers
At first I thought this was some sort of goofy website that takes your information and tries to market it, but after a few minutes i noticed the site had a basic premise and easy to use. have been on less than 2-3 weeks and cant seem to stop using this.. a slight addiction I guess!
3. And what keeps you at Mahalo Answers?

Tip worldflavors for this answerI'm all for collecting questions from Twitter (and maybe soon FriendFeed, Plurk, identi.ca and Jaiku) using a @answers account, but stealing someone else's questions is definitely a gray area in Mahalo's business practices.
*Those questions weren't sent to Mahalo and the content author never told Mahalo you could use them, I'm considering this stealing
---quote--
Protect your profile to keep your Twitter updates private. Approve who can follow you and keep your updates out of search results.
---/quote--
Mahalo is not violating the Twitter TOS, in fact the Twitter CEO is even a Mahalo member @ev
And, since I made an account, I happened to log on again later, and started answering OTHER people's questions - and so began the addiction!
I keep coming here mainly because there's something new every day; be it an interesting question, something hilarious to read or simply because I have another question myself! I'm always learning something new - not to mention marvelling at how much others already know.
Love it, addicted to it and will be here as often as I can guys!! THANKS!!!

What keeps me at Mahalo Answers? The interaction between members, the quality answers that can be found, although lately it seems less with the huge influx of twitter questions but you have to take the good with the bad. All in all I like Mahalo Answers but I liken it more like a high maintenance girl friend, you have to be careful or the backlash can be harsh.

I also found Mahalo Answers after hearing Jason Calacanis talking all about it on TWiT. I had actually been to Mahalo.com beforehand but never navigated over to the Answers page. Once I heard about some of the features I decided to check it out.
What made you start using Mahalo Answers?
I started using the website because I saw some questions that I knew I would be able to help people with. Also, seeing some of the great answers, I finally found a place where I could count on a good answer to some of my own questions. There aren't many places that you can get quality answers; usually it will sit on a forum for days/weeks/months or get a crap answer. The immediate help from the community is great.
And what keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
I started out answering a lot of questions and seemed to be on a roll...then I came down with the flu (not the swine flu) and had to take it easy for a while. The main reason I come back now is to LEARN by looking through the interesting tipped questions and their answers. There are so many great questions paired with great answers. I also enjoy being able to dig up the answers people are looking for, which they cannot seem to find themselves. As the community continues to grow, I see that I will continue to receive more and more quality answers to my questions.

I first found Mahalo from reading about it on another site, where someone who'd done freelance work writing for Mahalo discussed it. I came here to have a look around, and see if maybe I'd want to write for it. I fairly quickly decided not pursue writing for Mahalo, mainly becuase the topics requested and the amounts on offer weren't for me. Also it seemed like the sign-up process was complicated with faxing documentation and such.
Anyway while I was looking around I saw Mahalo Answers, which had fairly recently started. I can't remember exactly what caught my eye, maybe it was some interesting question in the Answers section of the main page.
2) Some good reasons why I keep using it
There's actually no one reason why I keep using it, and the variety of different reasons is probably what makes it compelling.
Some of the things I value are...
- Great community of friendly, thoughtful people. If you're going to have online conversations this is a very good place to do it. There are interesting discussions, humor, etc.
- The questions throw up interesting challenges, and they often reconnect me with things that I found fascinating once upon a time, but hadn't thought about for ages. One of the most unexpected benefits is it's reminded me why I once loved science so much!
- It can be very good way of finding out things you'd like to know. Asking a question here often gets excellent answers, though not always.
- It actually does a pretty good job of keeping me aware of what's going on in the world. Whether it's Wolfram Alpha or an Obama speech, you'll probably get questions here that will bring it your attention
- The tips are nice. I've made more than M$500, though of course I've given some out too. And Jason tells us we'll be able to make a lot more with M2, so I'm waiting to see what that's all about.
- I actually believe in what Mahalo is trying to do and think it's important. Both in terms of creating trustworthy sources of info online, and moving the net culture towards something more friendly and respectful than it often is.
3) Some not-so-good reasons I keep using it
I probably use it less efficiently and spend more time here than is strictly a good idea. Some of what has me do that....
- There's always a reason to check back to see things like new answers and comments on your questions, or to find out if you got a Best Answer
- When I do visit, maybe just to look at new answers to my question, I'll usually see other interesting things and get pulled into them. So I'll end up doing a lot more here than I first intended.
- It's a game, and there's the challenge and the competitive aspect of that. Getting to the next level, overtaking people in the top 100, even just getting that Best Answer. I can simultaneously think it doesn't matter a heck of lot what belt level I am, and yet still be motivated to get to the next one!
So there you are, the good and not-so-good reasons that keep me coming back!
I was tempted to say the Good, the Bad and the Ugly... but there's none that are too ugly there. :)

Tip philipy for this answerSecond would be the little lift I get sometimes when I get best answer, or some other "attagirl" now and then. There have been times when those things make my entire day!
I also enjoy the challenges of finding an answer, I enjoy diving deep into the depths of google and clicking through until I find an absolute conclusion of the user. There was a time back in the day (before the massive influx of questions) when I made it my duty to make sure no question went unanswered, and I would work backwards in that filter and try to answer as many old forgotten questions as possible... good times for the aspiring internet researcher in me.

I found it because I'm on Jason's List (https://my.binhost.com/lists/listinfo/jason) and he mentioned he was looking for beta testers for a new project that would let people are "a little extra scratch." It intrigued me, so I took a peek.
What made you start using Mahalo Answers?
I am a big fan of the idea that the Internet is the greatest gift of our generation because of the breadth and depth of knowledge transfer it has the potential of bestowing upon our civilization. I had always dreamed that there should be some kind of repository where you can ask any question in plain english and get really great answers. The broken way this was done in the past was to have lots of forums (AKA bulletin boards) out there focused on specific topics, and then use something like Google to find these forums--provided you knew *exactly* what words to search for. Now, with Mahalo Answers, you don't need to know exact words because you have experts on here who understand the semantics of your question and can lead you down the path to where you need to be. Or, just answer your question outright--as most people do around here. It's phenomenal.
And what keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
I think what keeps me here most is the transparency. What do I mean by that? When I email feedback@mahalo.com, I don't get some automated response saying that I can't get a personal response. Instead, I get a personal response, usually within a matter of a day or two. That matters to me, because it makes me feel like I really am a contributor to the site in more ways than simply asking and answering questions, which make the site money. I like contributing to things like finding spelling errors, suggesting ways to improve the user interface, etc.
Also, I do enjoy both core parts of the site: asking and answering questions. It's a perfect win/win for me because I love helping people, but there are also times when I'd like to be helped as well. In order to be helped the best (i.e., in order to give a good tip that's not funded by Mahalo) I need to earn some Mahalo Dollars. How do I do that? By contributing to the site, of course! The game model is really a great model--make it a game, so people will enjoy the rewards and keep coming back.
But at the end of the day, I think I come back because it's rewarding to earn these little mahalo dollars when I earn the Best Answer--even if they're only worth 75 cents on the dollar in real life, which I'll probably never cash in because I use them up to ask questions and give back to the community--and it's rewarding to participate in the transfer of knowledge. I've learned so much from the Internet, and it's only appropriate that I return the favor to all of you when I have a few spare minutes during the day.
Thanks again to Jason for creating such a great site for people to share knowledge and learn.

Tip michaelpaul for this answerWhat keeps me at the site first is the tips. For all the time I spend on the site, I don't feel so bad if I am getting paid for it. Even a quarter for a question I spend 20 minutes on makes me feel like I didn't waste my time.
Additionally, I enjoy the community sense, and the interaction. I enjoy seeing who answers what questions, who is thoughtful, who spouts whatever they've always been told, who votes good answers unhelpful, who puts time into responses, etc. Some people are flat and predictable, while others are open minded and logical. Some love life, and some are angry. It's very interesting and fun to be part of all of it.

I started answering questions because no one else had! I thought the answers were so simple and obvious. I also enjoyed the point system. It turns out that the day I joined just happened to be an "off" day for a lot of Mahalo members and that's why so many questions were left unanswered.
I've continued to use Mahalo Answers because I can get good reliable answers from other members, and also because I enjoy getting points for answering questions and having the most helpful answers. I also like giving people good solid answers.

I was on another Q&A site, and someone formally asked the question, "What other Q&A sites are out there?". So I did a quick Google search for a number of sites - and I got the same old garbage I had browsed before - but I also found this *new* site I hadn't heard of - Mahalo! So I ditched the former Q&A site that second, and came over here to check it out and see what it was like.
2.) What made you start using Mahalo Answers?
I started using it because it was a beautiful looking, cute, very accessible site. It pulled me in right away with great questions and lots of activity.
3.) And what keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
The general attitude of the User and the close interaction with the site managers. I haven't found ANY other Q&A site that is so FRIENDLY, straight-forward, mature (but not cranky or condescending), and helpful. I love that the community and the founders have such an open and friendly dialogue - this is exactly the type of web community I had always hoped to find. I love it here!
And hey, a little incentive isn't bad either!

I came to a wall in the DS game Final Fantasy 4. So I googled a walkthrough and viola…

So I started browsing and I saw Mahalo answers. “Ahhh…” I said to myself. “Get paid to answer questions and even ask your own questions without having to do the research!” Holy crap sign me up!
-And what keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
When I get bored at work I come here. Instead of wasting away at http://www.youtube.com all day I can make it worthwhile and help someone out. Which in end makes it hell of addictive...the thrill of researching and learning while getting paid makes it exciting!

Tip jimmyjames for this answerWhat keeps me coming is the (thus far) lack of shenanigans of the kind you'd see at Yahoo, AnswerBag, or similar sites by trolls and various other netizens who are playing pointless (heh) games.
I also really like the tip feature, because that can be a solid motivator for some good research and answers (I've gotten a lot of questions not merely answered but answered thoroughly here, a far cry from many of my experiences on the other sites).

Are you kidding? I'm lucky to remember my name these days.
What made you start using Mahalo Answers?
It was something of an ego trip, I think.
And what keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
The people. People like philipy, who I always am eager to hear from, even if I disagree with him. People like drmatt and robbrown who are concerned enough to answer a plea for help. People like tracebooks and bbrookin who have very practical answers. People like nuska who has a different take on the world because of where she lives. People like easyeboy and cp24 and cjd and dcanswerer who are voracious answers. People like pazaq, albanian, nadiraziz, dumblonde, mrnemo, davepamn, srgothard, interzone, etc, etc, etc, who understand the difference between discussion, discourse and argument, and for whom the concept of flaming is ridiculous.
They are what keeps me coming back here.

Some of the reasons I keep using the site are multi-layered:
1) This is a relatively new site and I am always out to help assist new businesses off the ground. The business model is relatively unique and can be quite successful.
2) I genuinely love demystifying most legal concerns that strike everyday people and legal entities. If I can help even one person then I feel like I have done my duty. I also run a daily blog that addresses basic concerns, and when I am done with client issues, I like to help out. Silly, yes, idealistic, doubly so, but it's what I like to do.
3) This site helps me predict what types of questions my own clients may have for me, and how I could answer them. The most knowledgeable and up-on-the-ball I appear, the more likely I can answer the issue and get repeat business.
4) The challenge. I love not knowing the answer, learning it properly, and then explaining it further. As a ex-instructor, I know first-hand that the best way to learn something well is to teach and explain it to a layperson. So the more I answer, the better I get.
All these reasons above are why I stay at Mahalo. Drop me a line if you wish to learn more.

Tip dimitrykaplun for this answerHard to believe but i actually found out about Mahalo Answers when i went to my nearest Barnes & Nobles Bookstore and picked a Book titled, but might not be accurate, it's been a while "1001 risky ways to earn money". It was one of the sites to try out as a skimmed the book to say a way to gain money and i experimented with it and i'm actually satisfied with my results so far. Nice job guys.
What made you start using Mahalo Answers?
As explained above, i decided to see how it was to answer questions for people who want to be in the know for a little extra change on the side, and i'm liking it a lot.
And what keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
Hehehe, it's like i'm repeating myself but hey it would have to be not only the points and money i gain from this but also the curious people who i can help with my knowledge and i can learn from others as well. There is never a maximum capacity of learning for the human mind.

I found it a few months ago when I started watching Mahalo Daily. After recently upgrading to a new computer I came over to find an iTunes feed so I could watch the show, lurked around Answers for a while and finally decided to jump in.
What made you start using Mahalo Answers?
Like it says in my bio, I am an overflowing fountain of superfluous knowledge. I'm the guy at the party who always drops a little knowledge into a conversation he overhears, I've kicked so much butt in Trivial Pursuit nobody will even play with me anymore, and I love sharing information with other people. The way I figured it, this was the perfect outlet for someone like me.
And what keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
The money and points are secondary. Being able to help other people who don't know where to start looking for what they need is what keeps me around.

I was fortunate enough to be working as an RFTG for Mahalo when Answers was first launched, so I was very excited to see what it was all about and be a part of it.
What keeps you at Mahalo Answers? I love MA. For the most part, the answers are extremely helpful, unlike a lot of the other Q & A sites on the web. There is a broad variety of categories which pretty much covers any type of question that you may have. The majority of the users seem to take pride in providing great helpful answers and normally back up their answers with reliable sources. It has been my experience thus far that when I need an opinion on something or have a pressing question that I need an answer to, I can usually count on getting an answer within an hour or so of asking the question.
In my opinion, MA is the best Q&A system out there. I'm not just saying that because of my RFTG position, I really believe it. It's exciting, fun, informative, entertaining and easy to use.

I keep coming back because I still have a desire to share what I know with others to help them avoid repeating some of the same mistakes I did. If I can spend a few minutes answering a question, and it keeps someone else from either wasting time, or money, I'm happy. The tips are just gravy.

I keep coming back to Mahalo Answers for two reasons: answering questions in subject areas that I enjoy is fun and I can get some very good feedback on questions that I ask. On other answer sites the result is usually very poor and lacking in quality. I find the opposite to be true here.

I tried it for a while and it left a better impression than any other answer site I knew so I registered. The rest is history.
And what keeps you at MA?
That is easy: the people, the answers and the questions. The point system and the money is nice and all, but wouldn't motivate me enough to click more than once without the people behind it. Even if some of my questions haven't been answered yet, most have and always in a good, informative way. Not once in the "you stupid jerk, can't you use google" way they are often answered at yahoo answers for instance.

I came across a question one day where someone asked "What are other sites like Yahoo Answers?". This one happened to be in the mix, I clicked on the link, and signed up.
2. What made you start using Mahalo Answers?
Like any honest person, the tips were the immediate enticement. If I can have 40% Best Answers and 6000 answers at Yahoo's answer site, maybe I can keep up the same level here? (That's hoping) And my time is going to something for me in addition to just something for the asker. I find the answers are much more intelligent and serious in nature here, and it's a place for a more serious discussion than other answer sites.
3. What keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
Again, the tips (wow, I feel so greedy saying that) and the higher level of seriousness. Plus, I just love to answer questions! (Which should be evident by how much time I've spent on other sites). It's a good passtime and I like to tell people about things I know about. I like to clear up misconceptions people have (factual errors). When someone is in a crisis I like to be the one that is there to help them and give them support when they have no where else to turn. I think it isn't something I could do as a career (like a doctor or support worker) because of all the stress involved, but when it's in the online community, it's much less stressful.
I am going to add, though, my one complaint. Because of the low number of users so far, there just isn't as big of a flow of questions, and BECAUSE they are more serious and specific, it seems that there are many I can't answer. So people aren't answering questions fast enough for me to always have new ones to answer! So I end up turning away to other sites because I've run out of new questions I can answer... I like the smaller community because there is more chance at getting tips, but it also means there is not enough content to keep going continuously. And it seems to be the same users you are seeing contributing constantly instead of new and fresh outlooks from many different people. I know this is unavoidable since many people spend a good part of their day here, and the # of users is quite low still, so hopefully it will work itself out in the end.
Though it is nice that the regular users ALWAYS provide good, thorough, useful answers, it IS nice to see more of a variety.

I do a lot of searching on the Internet. Most of my searches are done because that's what I'm paid to do. However, I do dedicate a certain percentage to seeing what's out there on the web that might provide me with a new venue for my skills or be useful to my work. One of these times, I found Mahalo Greenhouse mentioned on a British site. It had a list of online opportunities for students looking to bank extra cash. Jason Calacanis talked a little about his ideas, and that got me interested in exploring the site further. By the way, if anyone wants to send me a 'starving student snack pack' feel free!

What made you start using Mahalo Answers?
I was confused on whether Mahalo Greenhouse really needed anybody anymore. I started exploring the site and discovered Mahalo Answers. Bingo! I really like answering questions. It never ceases to amaze the sheer variety of questions people have and the number of subjects they explore. It greatly enhances my life, too, because I am always discovering something new. I think the 'open arena' style of Mahalo Answers benefits the info seeker, and I like to see how my answers rate.

What keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
Above all else, I think Mahalo compensates me better for the time I spend answering questions. I like the people here and I think the discussions are interesting. I like to be part of sites that are interested in the Web 2.0 world. I am very interested in sites like Technorati, StumbleUpon, Digg, Diigo, and others like them. I utilize these when I am on Mahalo, because I have to tap the latest sites that are interesting to people in order to provide them with relevant content. I also use these sites to look for what is new, current and will make people's web experience interesting. As someone who works the Internet, this helps me grow as a professional because I come in contact with new applications and more. My entire focus is on providing services to people that they want, and Mahalo Answers is an important type of link that helps me do that.

I read about the launch of Mahalo Search on TechCrunch, it looked like it had an interesting model so eventually I applied for Mahalo Greenhouse and after being accepted was disappointed with what Mahalo search had to offer so I left. Eventually I came back and found Answers up and used it to write a question (from Twitter) which got a very cool answer from @drmatt.
2. What made you start using Mahalo Answers?
It was better then Yahoo! Answers and integrated with Twitter
3. And what keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
The promise of M2, the currently interface in junky and cluttered and the tip/belt system is severely flawed, I stick around because I'm confident Jason can fix this place and make it work again.

I found out about Mahalo Answers while working here as a remote full time guide.
What made you start using Mahalo Answers?
An e-mail from the big guy in the office announcing the new feature.
And what keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
Unlike Yahoo! Answers and WikiAnswers, users of Mahalo Answers are encouraged to give thoughtful and helpful answers. I know that no matter what I ask, I am sure to get a great answer. More than once I have been amazed at the quality of answers in this community. This is the only source I would trust when asking a question online because I know you will all take the time to do the research behind your answer. I also love some of the 'lighter' questions....like what is the funniest video of ___.

The same thing I thought was silly though kept me hear, I enjoy
answering peoples questions and trying to answer to the best of my ability based on my life experiences. The thought that I might be rewarded for my efforts, aside from the satisfaction I get from helping people in general, was kind of an added bonus.
Either way, my time on yahoo answers is done, I'm here to stay,
I personally thought the belt system was awesome as opposed to the dull points of Y!A. Thanks.

I was reading blogmaverick one day
http://www.blogmaverick.com
http://s3.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/vip/blogmaverick/maverick.gif
and Mark Cuban mentioned that he was an investor at Mahalo, and that he used Mahalo as his main search engine in order to save a lot of time. Being a self-made billionaire, I thought he must be quite a clever guy so I was curious went to Mahalo to check it out. This was before Mahalo Answers even existed. I participated as a volunteer in Mahalo suggesting links and making suggestions and it was fun and I learned a lot.
What made you start using Mahalo Answers?
They kept hinting that there was something new coming at Mahalo and were asking for volunteers to preview it. I thought that I probably had seen it all and how could the new Mahalo be that much different so I decided to wait it out. Then they contacted me and asked me to participate in a beta test because I had been an active user in Mahalo, so how could I refuse? Boy, was I wrong! Mahalo Answers is a LOT different from Mahalo and much much more fun to use than Mahalo ever was.
And what keeps you at Mahalo Answers?
That's a tough call. Which is the real reason, or is it a bunch of little reasons that come together and make one giant wave that you keep on wanting to ride?
I learn something new every time I use Mahalo Answers. Not just trivia but here and there are real gems that I can save and use in many parts of my life.
So far at least - it is free to use and really fun to contribute when I can. Saving money on entertainment is a big plus, but earning money while being entertained and learning useful things - that is priceless!
Is it just me? after the long and dry writers strike on network TV recently I have never looked at it the same again. Maybe it was good to take a real break from weekly new episodes of TV that you get all involved in and just can't miss, so that you can check out something else - and find out that it is even BETTER! I rarely watch TV any more and really don't miss that addiction at all.
Mahalo Answers is really convenient and fits into my time whenever I want to use it. I never got into all the high tech machines or the various on demand cable or TV services so had to wait all week for that one hour of TV that still intrigued me, and once it was gone, it was gone. But Mahalo Answers is always there 24/7 (except for brief downtimes for upgrades and they are much less than even Twitter). I can skip it for a week, then search unanswered questions or older questions and catch up if I wish, or just look at the new answers, or just look at favorite categories and skip the rest. Mahalo Answers is compatible with changing schedules and time windows that can be huge or very very small. For a quickie look you can even look at http://www.twitter.com/answers to see what has been going on at Mahalo Answers without opening up Mahalo at all and it looks like other folks do that as well as there are over 3,000 followers there now even though there must be a huge pile of questions and answers to scroll through in the Twitter inbox everyday. http://s3.amazonaws.com/twitter_production/profile_images/80864085/answerstwitter_bigger.png
With Mahalo Answers there is a large variety of things to choose to do and no one tells you which thing you have to do or not. You can just browse and read, you can just comment or toggle the comment button and add sources to get one more point each time. You can sort questions and pick the kind you want to do by money, unanswered question, or undecided and just vote for each one earning one point (if you are in a high enough color rank of course). There are special things, contests, feedback to the Mahalo community, predicting events, tons of folks trying to shop globally, a whole range of categories that have sub categories so you can choose whatever you are in the mood to look at that day. You can go on a question asking binge up to your color ranking limit per day until your question ranking is right up there and you qualify tor the $10 best question of the day Mahalo dollars giveaway. Or you can just work away and ignore all the periperal stuff and build content in probably the next global expertise sharing platform that changes the future world - and be a founder at a time when it all started.
Mahalo Answers is an investment - personal and for the benefit of the globe. The time you donate, whether you ever earn a cent or not, if you write something it becomes your My Mahalo contribution to the world. If questions intrigue you, you have a permanent record forever of the answer you researched and what everyone else said so you can click on questions in your profile and find each thing. It also becomes a historical record of your life - your intellectual life, your leisure not spent on movies, TV, listening to music, going to concerts - all things that are peripheral and leave no trace on the planet once it is over and done. Mahalo Answers becomes part of you, and you give and become part of it. A symbiotic giving and taking that gives you a ticket to participate meaningfully in the world and offer your expertise to others and let them lift you up to give you a better and more informed, inclusive life where you can really say - not, just like in Twitter " I am doing that" and who knows it could all be a big hoax, but I did that - I contributed that little corner to Mahalo Answers for the benefit of myself and the knowledge of the world, and I feel good about it, and I earned some money too!!!!!!
Mahalo Answers is just plain fun, and why wouldn't I come back to it? There are always new things to see and do. A real bargain it is! and it is all free as well. How can you go wrong? What could be better?........except maybe Mahalo2 ?
Are you going to be part of history and contribute to Mahalo Answers?
Here is the context for your future legacy as explained by Jason Calacanis, founder of Mahalo and Mahalo Answers

I joined because I saw the question: http://www.mahalo.com/answers/languages/what-is-your-favourite-swear-word-why
Now your talking my language!
I continue to stay because of all the great opinion questions. Facts are nice but opinions are awesome! There are some really interesting people answering some really great questions that don't have one definitive answer.
My favorite aspect of Mahalo is how upset I become when people select "Unhelpful" on opinion questions when it's clearly about a conflict of opinions. No ones opinion is "Unhelpful" unless it is not relevant to the question. When I see it, I get furious, then I realize how mad/offended I am over something so insignificant and it makes me laugh at myself. I also love to see all the questions I or another user has answered and find the patterns.
