@jobrielyn -

I'm afraid there really isn't any dial-up option that I know of get the speed to you need.

How 'rural' are you? Is there a library within a decent distance that you could drive to?

Libraries now offer computers with internet that's not (usually) dial-up.
You can also schedule an hour slot of time to use it.
It might make for fun trip with your kids to the library, if they're old enough to play in the children's section without your supervision.

If that first option is out of question and you live far from civilization... you might want to look into the option of using a satellite internet service like Hughes Net.

The tutorials are fun and educational, and I wouldn't want you miss them!

Thank you for your suggestion! I hadn't thought about utilizing the services at my local library to participate. I really appreciate your help.

We do have a library close by. I'll have to check into their connection. Hughes Net is iffy at best in our location.

Thanks for suggestion, Bunny!

I was going to suggest the same thing, phu! Bring some headphones to the library, bring a snack, and settle in for a couple hours for the tutorial.

No need to apologize. I'm sure there are a few others still working off from dial-up, too.

Hopefully, the suggestions we get here will make it possible for more to be involved with the live sessions.

If you have a laptop or access to a laptop you could go to a local coffee shop or book store that offers free wireless internet. A library would also be a good alternative, most have internet access. These depend on how far of a drive you have to get there of course.

Another good idea. I hadn't thought of that. My friends run a local coffee shop and they do offer high speed. I'll have to try it out.

Thanks, GoogaMooga!

Well to add on to what GoogaMooga posted. A internet Cafe would probably suit your needs. I was also thinking about the new starting trend- Netbooks. You can cab get a basic netbook plan, through Verizon and AT&T. I'm planning on getting one myself.

Another thing you can do is get a mi-fi, almost like your own wi-fi hot spot. It's available through Verizon. If all else fails, I provided an article on how you can make your dial up faster. Good Luck! I always miss the training sessions too, even though I have Broadband :(

Thanks for the suggestions, @psynopsis. I'm not sure if netbooks will work where I'm at but it can't hurt to check. And I'll definitely be checking out the article.

@jobrielyn You're welcome, I'm pretty sure you can get service where you live. If you have a working cell phone your chances are pretty good. :D

@jobrielyn I forgot to mention, that you can just upgrade to broadband. If you have cable tv, then you can get broadband.

Cable TV isn't even available where we're located. Without DIRECTV, we wouldn't have any television stations. The broadband DIRECTV offers isn't available where we're at, either.

I told you it was rural! :)
