I've had my cellphone stolen from me once. The weird thing was, I was thinking about pocket security of items while it was being stolen, particularly my wallet, I thought "You know, I should put this in my inner pocket like most people have it", and I'm pretty sure I knew I was being pickpocketed too, since a dude came up close to me and I thought "Is this dude stealing something from me?", I however thought "Nah, he isn't." He gets off the bus and I check to make sure, and bam, cellphone gone.
It was a cheap one at least, and only had a few dollars worth of money on it anyway.

I would have called ATT and reported it lost to prevent someone from using my service (they could have removed the SIM and used it in another phone) if he hadn't called me when he did, and it hadn't been a friend that I trust.

Once they got the number, they called Verizon to report it.....Verizon contacted me.....I called his roomie.
He hadn't mentioned it to me and it had been gone 3 days....so we had a chat about responsibility...lol
The phone works fine, snow and all!

Have you ever lost a phone and had it returned?
I have. A person found the phone hiking along a previously traveled trail and turned it into the police, as a lost item, the police contact the cell phone company and the cell phone company contacted me, and I picked it up, at the police station. I never knew the finding person, but they seem to be honest and saving me money and grief.

yes. It was a Blackberry. My name and email address were clearly on the display when it was locked. A friend found it, and called me just as I realize I lost it. I would have called ATT and reported it lost to prevent someone from using my service (they could have removed the SIM and used it in another phone) if he hadn't called me when he did, and it hadn't been a friend that I trust.

I didn't, but my son did. He dropped his in the snow in WV and we assumed if it was found that the weather, damp wet snow would ruin it. By chance, someone dropped something they could find right off and happened upon it. They called themselves to get the number since they use a diferent provider and couldn't find that info. Once they got the number, they called Verizon to report it.....Verizon contacted me.....I called his roomie.
