I have it in my kitchen under my cabinets, and have never had any problems with it. I found a great resource page n rope lights at the link below.

Other words of caution - don't leave the rope light on for more than several hours, read the directions carefully. Our rope light gets pretty hot to the touch and it may be a hazard if left near flammable materials. (A child might get burned by touching it, too!) Good luck

Does anyone know anything about rope light?
I have a large deck in the back of my house with a hot tub set down it. There are many sections to it. My questions:
Is rope light easy to use?
How do I know how much I can run?
I've read a few articles but nothing answers everything!

Be sure to buy it at a store where you can return it, after trying it out. I purchased rope light to light an outdoor area, used about 10 feet of rope in a 6 foot area. The area is enclosed so I thought it would work pretty well. It's not very bright even though we got the "high powered led lights" type. It's kind of like a night-light that you'd put in a kids' bedroom. :) So it helps for walking around safely, but that's about it. Other words of caution - don't leave the rope light on for more than several hours, read the directions carefully.
