It's a great idea, but - Digg discourages any types of group voting. For example, Digg will penalize stories that are consistently dugg by the same users.
I think our best bet is to have some place that Mahaloan's post what they've put up on Digg and then suggest people who are interested in that topic to go and check it out. That way, we shouldn't have the same group of people descend on a Digg story.

I love this idea and have been actively trying to promote other users pages as well as my own on Digg for a little while now.

There is nothing in Digg's terms of service that says you can't add friends to your group and Digg your friend's articles. Personally, I think if your content is good and it interests me, regardless of what site you are on, it should be Dugg. Therefore, I Digg it.
Yes, you want to promote your own pages. If you have friends on Digg that Digg your pages too, then their friends who aren't your friends can see that and other Digg users can too. Therefore, increased visibility=increased traffic to your pages.
While the information about the change in the site's algorithm is still good to know, another thing that's worth pointing out is what @lon mentioned the other day. The majority of Mahalo sites aren't neccessarily "buzzy" material. They are more research oriented. And while you should still Digg them, StumbleUpon them, Buzz them up, whatever, just for the very sake of getting the word out there, it is very unlikely that a Mahalo page would make it to the top of the Digg list.
Nonetheless, I have added you to my friends and all others as well, and those of you who are not added as my friends, if I come across your page and it interests me, I'm Diggin' it!

Does anyone else want to be friends in Digg for page promotion?
Hey guys, hopefully this is allowed. I'm just getting the hang of submitting my pages to Digg, and I'm hoping to add a few friends there who might be interested in trading Diggs on articles.
My username is Cuppytalk, and my URL is:
http://digg.com/users/cuppytalk
I'd love to add more of you page managers as friends and check out your pages as you submit to Digg. Would be a great way for us to increase our page rankings together! Add me and I'll add you back!

So it sounds like we don't want to become "friends" on Digg, but instead find each others pages, perhaps from the list of pages managed on our profiles and just digg the ones on topics we are interested in. Anyone can Digg one of our pages we don't have to do it ourselves, so anyone who puts a page up on Digg, should let others know about it. Would that work and not be a violation of TOS for Digg?

@librarian - I think that's probably the way to go. We just want to make sure that we don't have the same group of people digging multiple stories.

What I read in that Tech Crunch article and through going back and viewing Kevin Rose's original blog entry on the subject, was just that the algorithm that the site uses to determine which articles make the home page was reformulated to work against group voters. There is nothing in Digg's terms of service that says you can't add friends to your group and Digg your friend's articles. Personally, I think if your content is good and it interests me, regardless of what site you are on, it should be Dugg. Therefore, I Digg it.

I've been wondering if there's a "Digg Effect" on Mahalo. Couldn't a group of users gang up to vote for each other? I still don't know how this system works here. What decides the best answer, the question poser or the votes by readers? (I will be posing this as a Mahalo question.)
