Helpfu votes don't directly bring you any money.
The purpose of helpful/unhelpful votes is to have good answers bubble up to the top and be easier to find. A secondary effect, whether it's the intended purpose or not, is to give feedback to the answerer about what is and isn't considered a good answer.
If you listen to that feedback and adapt your answers accordingly, then that will most likely lead you to getting more best answers and tips.
Also, people seem to get as much satisfaction here from being appreciated as they do from getting tips. Certainly the amount of debate that's been generated by people that felt they were getting voted 'unhelpful' unfairly indicates it's an emotive subject, and people place a lot of value on it, even though it has no benefits or penalties in terms of tips or points.

Votes for Helpful Answer or Interesting Question do not provide any money or question. It is just there as a way of saying the questing is/is not interesting and if you appreciate/disapprove of it. Helpful Answer is saying one answer is thoroughly researched and deserves a high ranking in the position.
Votes for Best Answer will give you points but no money. Each vote will get 1 point (and visit here for you daily limit http://www.mahalo.com/answers/points_guidelines).
Unless Mahalo are thinking of an idea to give money, it does not exist. However it is unlikely as everyone would start voting and Mahalo would have to pay out loads!

no, helpful votes do not earn money. A helpful vote is what it is, if you believe an answer is helpful you can click the helpful button and it will raise the profile of that answer. If enough people use it properly, when questions have tonnes of answers the best answers will be sifted to the top.
