Nearly four months later - all the Top 100 are Purple belt or over.
I'd say that by September '09 it will all be brown. So, does this mean that by the end of the year....we will see only BLACK belts in the Top 100? I have to admit that it won't be that exciting with 100 Black Belt members in the Top 100 - it is much nicer seeing a mix of belt colours. I definitely think that there should be ribbons and badges for categories etc. (http://www.mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-community/do-you-think-mahalo-should-give-us-rewardsmedalsribbons-on-our-profile-pages-for-different-achievements-number-of-fans-answers-etc).
Anyway! Let's celebrate to all you purple belts and above! If your not a purple belt - keep working...!

2. I'm not sure I can have an estimate. The site could explode into popularity and people might just zoom right up to the top. OR, it could fizzle out and and number of questions will slow down. My guess is the first (hopefully). I'm going to say about 3 months. August 29th? Once people are dedicated to the site, enough to get a Purple Belt, chances are some sort of addiction has formed and it's not just a weekend phase. So they'll continue on in hopes to get higher on the ranking. Even I'm at that point now and I'm just a lowly Green Belt.

Community Update: The Top 100 about to turn "Purple or better"
In case you didn't notice the community is reaching a HUGE milestone.... in order to break into the top 100 you're going to need to be a purple belt (which is six to 16 weeks of effort in my experience).
There are currently only four green belts (with purple tips) in the top 100.... when the make it to purple (and they are all really close) the top 100 slots will all be purple.
1. Post something purple to celebrate this.
2. Guess when the entire list will be Brown Belts!!!

I think it will be all brown belts or better by Thanksgiving this year. I like my brown belt, but I kind of miss the purple. It's my favorite color! Permalink | Report

A lot depends on the number of questions, if the question volume continues to stay high the opportunity to answer many questions a day will make it comparatively easy to get to brown. My WAG is October 12th, Thanksgiving Day. Permalink | Report
