Can I delete or withdraw an answer I've made to a question?

Assuming for a moment that I've answered a question incorrectly, and I know that i've answered it wrongly, is there anyway that I can delete/withdraw my answer?

Is there a way to replace my answer with a better one?

Or failing that, whats the best way for me to show that my answer is wrong?

I've done this before.. I typed a really stupid answer and just plain wasn't thinking, went back over an hour later and could not edit it.

I just REPORTED it using the REPORT link. I marked it as inappropriate, and put in the explanation that I was reporting my own answer/comment. It was gone a little while later and I was able to correctly reply...

I'd also make a comment to it saying please ignore, or something like that as this is a live community and others could see and comment on it..

Hope that helps..

I like the idea of reporting your own answers. :)

This is the method I recommend, just be sure to add some text letting us know why.

I don't think you can withdraw an answer, but you can make an amendment as a further comment.

CORRECTION.

You can edit your answer afterwards but there is a 60 minutes window. This correction is proof.

You have an hour to edit yourself then this page. This is especially useful to a person like me that speaks before he thinks, at times.

You have the option to edit your answer for an hour after you posted it, but as far as I know there's no option to actually delete it.

I think when you post your answer you have to refresh the page in order to enable editing - I hope this helps! :)

If you want to completely get rid of your answer just edit it by removing what you typed and then posting 'IGNORE' or something similar to that.
