Are the little cartoon boy and girl that are part of the "Mahalo Answers" logo based on real people?

Just wondering if the girl in the grass skirt and the boy in the blue and white polka dotted boxers are based on specific models or are just generic little chibis. The little boy's widow's peak is so distinctive, I wonder if he's supposed to be a particular person.

There is a joke inside Mahalo that it's my wife and I, but no they are not based on anyone specific... our art director Girmant--who is brilliant--might know.
