Any guidelines for giving attribution when posting a photo or other image in an Answer on Mahalo? (newbie question).
I read the guidelines for cut and paste regarding text, and the terms of service concerning not violating any laws including copyright but is there more? I see that links are posted directly beneath many photos (video and audio too) , but not all. Yet when I check the properties on photos embedded without attribution, some are linked to web sites which are probably not the property of the person embedding them. Is this much ado about nothing? I know I did one or two before I thought about it.

It's best to try and avoid copyrighted images (and videos), though it isn't always the case on Mahalo.
My best advice is to do a search on Flickr for "Creative Commons" images.
Here is an example
What I would do is store the link above as a bookmark and then change your search term to what you are looking for.
Flickr Creative Commons won't always have what you need, but they have a pretty wide selection of images.
This is what I always do for the pages I manage.

If in doubt, just put due credit into your typed-out answer before the image or video to be answered. This way there is no confusion.
To all others reading this answer: This is good advice! If you're questioning whether or not the answer you're posting is copyrighted, you really should make every effort to give full credit to prevent Mahalo from taking any undue fire from the copyright holder.
I don't think we would be making a few extra bucks if Mahalo was spending all of it's time dealing with lawsuits. :-)

Just think when your peach will more clear if you add image.Such as when one ask for any design or about a man or place you should add photo.
Adding photo will make your answer strong so add photo if you it possible. But sometime you should not add photo like about a matter of girl so if you add photo one can mark it as positive another will mark it negative.

I'm not sure in what cases you don't get a link to the original site. I've never had that happen when I've added an image. Maybe if there are images like that they're actually hosted on Mahalo?
Anyway, my basic thoughts on this...
- If there is a link, that is attibution in itself
- It's not hard for people to stop hot-linking of images from their sites if they wanted to. So I'd assume that if they allow it to happen, they're probably ok with it.
- If someone asked for the image to not be used, of course you should respect that
Still it would be nice to know that the official policy is.
