Upgrading Unibody Macbook Pro Hard Drive, 5400 RPM vs. 7200 RPM, Battery, Vibration, Heat, Noise difference?

So i just bought the unibody Macbook Pro, have the 5400 rpm 250 gig drive. Want to buy a new 320 gig 7200, or 5400 rpm drive, with either 16 or 8 mb of cache respectively, while putting the current pro drive in my ps3. So i've read many things about noise, vibration, heat and battery performance from the 7200 rpm drive. I know it was more cache which is good, but how bad are the bad things? right now the mac has no heat issues, no noise, no fans and no vibration; it's quite nice. will the difference be that noticeable?

I don't know about the vibration aspects, but I have read conflicting reports about nearly every other aspect. Some 5400 rpm drives have been faster, some 7200 rpm drives have used less power (and therefore battery), and most reports say that a large cache only helps for very few types of file transfers. Noise is probably more dependent on brand than capacity of the drive.

I would carefully read the specs on the specific drives you are looking at and take everything with a grain of salt if you read people's reviews.

In your position I would first choose a capacity (you mentioned 320gb), then a brand, and then read some reviews. Any differences in battery life will be less than dimming your screen or turning off bluetooth so I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't have any personal experience with this issue, but I was able to find some internet chatter from people who have had this type of experience and it appear it ranges from lots of vibration to no vibration.
