The first thing to try...and it will probably resolve the issue:
Turn the computer off.
HOLD DOWN following keys: Command, Option, P and R
Turn computer on.
Wait for G Chord - 3 TIMES
This zaps the p-ram in apple computers and usually resolves the reboot problem.
The second thing to try is perhaps back up all of your data, de-authorize iTunes, and rebuild the entire system with a fresh load of OS X Leopard and or Snow Leopard. Hope that helps some what.

You can use Carbon Copy Cloner to get your data on the new drive.

If you have a PC around you could try running Spin Rite to check your hard drive. Many times it can repair issues the drive is having. You need a PC because Spin Rite need bios to boot.

A new drive would be my recommendation though.

First please make sure you keep good backups of you machine. A clean install of the operating system is the cheapest solution since it is free. If that does not work the next easiest repair is replacing the hard drive. Hard drive issues can cause strange things like that. Since the machine is a few years old, the heat issues of laptops, and the beating that laptops take make hard drive failure pretty common. You can use Carbon Copy Cloner to get your data on the new drive.
