What is fibreChannel.prefPane for?
I was looking in my System > Library > PreferencePanes folder and discovered FibreChannel.prefPane. If I try to open it, I get this error:

Does anyone know what this is for? I've heard that it's for servers with fibre cards, but this isn't an Xserve and I'm running the regular Mac OS X Leopard, not Mac OS X Leopard Server.

Nope... never seen that one before.
However, I do know that a Fibre Channel is a protocol that connects storage devices together. This is mostly a SAN (storage area network) concept.
So, I'd have to guess that this is more of a "server" option that enables itself when the correct interfaces are added.

The Fibre Channel preference pane controls SAN stuff. You don't have a fibre card so it will do you no good. It's in regular Leopard because you may not have server if you have a mac pro.
