Is there a way to "delete" when typing with a Mac?

While using a PC, you are able to either use the "back space" key (to delete letters before the cursor) or the "delete" key (to delete letters after the cursor.) 

Is there a way to delete letters after the cursor on a Mac?

I know that you can highlight and then delete, but I'm looking for something I can do from the keyboard.  Thank you!!

The Mac should behave in the same way.  Not all keyboards are identical, but I marked off the forward delete key with a red arrow.

Woops, I forgot to add that I am on a MacBook, so I don't have the handy keys shown in the picture. Is there any way to do it from my laptop keyboard?

You should be able to forward delete by holding down the function key (fn) and pressing the regular backspace key. Macs are usually pretty intuitive, but this is not so obvious.

Hit Apple(the little apple sign on the keyboard) + A. This is the keyboard shortcut to highlight all body of text in a specific field. Than simply hit delete (either delete button).

I was wondering if I could just delete one letter after the cursor...like the delete key does on a PC.
