When a new operating system is released, generally it will patch whatever holes are known at the time. That being said, I do agree that Apple/Microsoft and whomever else out there is creating a consumer based operating system has a responsibility to consumers using the older version. In responsibility I mean that YES...they should absolutely issue patches for people on older versions to make sure there are no security related issues.
Microsoft does this...there is no reason Apple cannot.

On the other hand. Snow Leopard is not a completely new operating system. It is Leopard, optimized. They did not work on adding tons of new features, but focused on making what they have now, better.
In reality, Snow Leopard is just a big security/performance package for Leopard, and they are charging you for it.

Is it Wrong for Snow Leopard to include Security Patches?
Its one thing for a upgrade to implement new security policies. (ie.-Win 7 vs. Vista; drivers signing etc). But is it wrong or poor corporate policy to not patch Leopard and make people purchase Snow Leopard to get a security patch. Contrast with Microsoft that patches any OS for its full Life Cycle.

I am pretty sure apple still fully supports Tiger OS X 10.4 AND Leopard OS X 10.5. On the other hand. Snow Leopard is not a completely new operating system. It is Leopard, optimized. They did not work on adding tons of new features, but focused on making what they have now, better.

Do they support Leopard? I heard on TWIT that one of the security flaws fixed in Snow Leopard has been there for years? Plus the Anti-Malware in Snow Leopard. Are users now going to be basically paying an annual subscritption fee for security?
