How do I repair permissions for lots of applications at once in Mac OS X after restoring from a Time Machine backup?
I recently restored a computer from a Time Machine backup, and I ended up doing so twice; once to a new account, and once to completely restore my old account. However, because I restored the applications to the new account first, I now no longer have the same privileges with them in my old account that I wish to keep using. As an example, I can open the applications, but I can't overwrite them if I download a new version, and I have to input my password every time I want to delete one. I already tried repairing permissions in Disk Utility, and that didn't work. Is there a quick and/or easy way I can restore the permissions for all the applications to my original account so that I have full access to them without deleting them all and re-restoring from the backup again?

I tried using Disk Utility, which I assume you meant by maintenance, to exactly that, but it didn't work... The first time. However, after I enabled root access and logged in as root, it appears to have done exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for your help!
